just got my first gen 3. ive had a few gen 1 in my time but i took the step for this. its a 97 with just under 100k. its white and about as clean as i could find. it does however have a few issues. if anyone has some advise for a first timer id appriciate it.

1. the climate controls dont work. all i get is air from the defrost. a/c and everything works i just cant direct it were to go. the dash shows front vents but it still goes to the defroster.

2. if i put the car in gear it doesnt roll until i step on the gas. its like a brake is on. im gonna take the brakes apart tomorrow and see if something is stuck but i fear it may be tranny related ie torque converter.

3. ive got 2 codes. p301 and 401. cylinder 1 misfire which im assuming is probably a coil pack and low egr flow. im guessing clean the valve and replace the soleniod.

those are the big ones for now but overall im happy with it. i dont care for the wood trim the po installed though. i did notice that the car had the pcm reprogrammed by ford back in 03, does any one know why maybe. im gonna pull the valve covers off and see if theyve been welded. if not its off to nesho for welding which is down the street from me.

1. Sounds like you may have a vacuum problem or a bad EATC module.

2. Probably stuck rear brakes. If it was the TC, the car wouldn't move even when you gave it gas.

3. Yes, you probably need a coil on cyl 1. Don't waste your time cleaning the valve, it's not the valve that clogs it's the EGR orifice in the surge tank.

PCM's get re-flashed usually for emissions reasons. The factory calibrations suck anyway and when you decide to buy a tuner you'll flash right over that crappy Ford program with a good one! :thumb:

Welcome aboard! :salute:

P.S. Check out the NESHOC club section of the forum. We have a club breakfast, Tweeter Center swap meet, and a club BBQ on Saturday. Good chance to meet a bunch of SHO owners and see some other cars.

On the passenger side the EATC gets it's vacuum. There is a 3/8" black plastic line that runs along the firewall from the drivers side to the passenger side. At the end near the strut tower is a rubber tee. One line out of this tee goes to a vacuum tank in the fender and the other line out goes to the EATC.

got the vents to work. the vaccuum lines were melted like everyone said. the black was a complete solid tube almost to the fire wall. had to cut it close and hack fix it to see if it worked and it did but ive got more serious issues to deal with since then. the cars battery light came on this morning and the alt is giving no power out. it is brand new so i thought it might be something else. i looked in the power block and the alt 30 amp fuse is blown. ive replaced it a few times but as soon as i touch the mega fuse with the alt cable while i have the battery hooked up to the other side the fuse blows. its driving me mad and i cant figure it out. im cold and wet and sick to my stomach from this. im not sure if my problem lies in a bad alt that is further complicated by the fuse blowing, or if its just the fuse short and once thats fixed ill be right as rain. icant afford to bring it to the shop and im mad heated that i just bought it and im having issues. im thinking i got a bum car. i dont mind fixing codes and brakes but electrical is not my forte. its supposed to clear up tomorrow so any clues would be wonderful.

vent were fixed today. lines were completely melted behind the motor. had to hack fix it to see if would work and it did. ive got a far bigger issue now though. the battery light came on and the new alt isnt putting out a charge. to make it worse it keeps blowing the alt fuse in the front power block as soon as the battery is connected. ive been at it most of the day and have had no luck. im really at my wits end. cant afford to bring it to the shop since i just got it so im gonna have to do it on my own. im not sure if its my alt or the fuse blowing or maybe both. the harness' look fine for the most part. i could really use some help with this one.

problem narrowed a bit. the second plate on the megafuse alt side that when ever i touch with the fuse in leads to that 30amp fuse. im thinking the megafuse is bad and igot it apart now im trying to figure a way of testing it. just the alt wire disconnected from alt touching it blows that fuse.
