Hey guys, figured I would start up a build thread to show some of the progress I've made on my 2013 Taurus SHO and then continue the progress as more is completed. I've got a ton of pictures to offload from my phone and computer so may take a bit to load everything up. Hopefully it will inspire some people or make them shake their head in disgust. Either way, enjoy haha.

2013 Taurus SHO PP 402A
Purchased in 2017 with 22,100 miles
As of today: 77,243 miles

Pictures from the day I took delivery:

Car was bone stock, single owner from a little farm town about an hour and a half from me. Owned by a 63 year old man who traded it on on an F-250. Sat on the dealer lot for 6 months while I tracked it starting at 28k, then 26k, then 24k, then decided to go look at it. My wife and I test drove it as a replacement for my 2011 Mustang GT that was totalled in a wreck, and fell it love. It was advertised as a base model, but quickly found it to be a PP 402A package.

Offered 18k to try to play hardball and they wouldn't even negotiate so we left. Two hours later they called and offered $500 off, but we didn't want to drive back to this little farm town for $500 savings. They called back the next day and offered to waive TT&L, a free warranty and courier delivery to Tulsa, so we took it for $23,500 OTD.

After taking delivery, the first thing I did was the AO tune from Gearhead, a UPR Catch Can, and an Airaid intake. Car consistently ran 13.2s @ 105 mph, but I wanted more. Got with Luis at Ortiz Performance and got to work applying principles from the Mustang and F-150, and same mods got a personal best of 12.9 @ 108.

New update from March:

So I spent the winter playing with my launch, trying to get new logs and changes to the tune, but taking it back out to the track even though the car drove a ton better could only muster a 12.86 @ 108, which I attributed to the spring air.

I spent a month stockpiling parts, and when my wife went out of town for a week, the car went up on jackstands and I got to work.

First to go was the stock intercooler. I had purchased the GH unit over the winter during the first batch, and it went in along with a set of EPP hot pipes and Stainless Works catless downpipes. Everything was a drop in fit minus the downpipes, being that I have a PP and these were old shelf stock that a nearby facility had leftover from 2011. Never installed, just a really out design. $20 later we had a new bung installed and she was good to go. I also scored a cheap set of MSD coils and a UPR catch can from one of my suppliers, so I threw them on to do some testing.

27 psi in the tires, 2200 rpm launch, pedal to the floor haha.

Try keeping the rear tires at 40 psi. The power transfer is limited to only 150 hp IIRC. That is not enough to spin them. You are creating rolling resistence with all four tires at 27 psi.

I launch at 2500 rpm at 3 psi of boost. 24 psi in the fronts 42 in the rears, and consistently stay in the high 1.70's for my 60 foot.

Back in May, I was invited to participate in the Ozark Mounts/Eureka Springs Mustang Days. They were opening the event up to ALL Fords, and they were actively looking for people to help promote the event. I was one of 5 Taurus SHOs at the event (4 5th Gens, 1 2nd Gen) and took home Runner Up for my class.

Before I went, only change I made was the addition of MMD Zeven 20x8.5 wheels with General GMax RS tires.

I hardly spin on the street. I have the Conti DWS 06's on a 9 inch rim now. I run my tires at 36 psi all the way around on the street. The AD mounts really help. I havent been to the track since my dp's, mounts, and rim upgrades however. It has been too hot here in Phoenix.

What are u running with all the new upgrades? You should get a High pressure fuel pump next.

Haven't been to the track since all the upgrades. It should go bottom 12's as it sits. I am at a crossroads. The car needs both the HPFP and turbos to make any more gains. I don't feel like spending another $3600 to get another 100 hp. I am going to put a stand alone progressive nitrous kit on the car. I have the hook up with Nitrous Express and am going that avenue of approach.

Mid July the car went down for the weekend again to install torque mounts, the EPP intake, a BBK throttle body (mine leaked pretty bad) and the XDI35 fuel pump with E60 fueling (what we have at the pumps based on my ECA).

Now I'm at a crossroads on rather to just perfect the tune and drive it or go big turbos and max the block.

yes sir, need to get out and make a few passes. I'm running out of fuel at the top end of each gear now, we bumped fuel pump voltage to 16v commanded (alternator is maxing out around 15v) and we gained back 2% duty cycle but definitely not where I want to be.

Deatschwerks released their SHO kit for the 340lph pump, got it ordered Friday and should be here tomorrow. We'll see what we can do with it.

It's interesting the shared vehicles this pump works on which makes you wonder....
