Hey, how do I rig up another antenna on my car? I JUST got the radio working, now I've lost my radio reception and it's worthless. LOL Just my luck. Anyway, give me my options here.

I don't wanna' take off the fender if I don't have to. *yuck* How hard is it to hook up those wire antenna's for the window, and are they any good?? Thanks guys.

Brian...

It sounds like you have a connection problem under the dash, not outside, but... assuming the mast / antenna is gone on the outside, & not under the dash:

The antenna is an easy fix, depending on what's wrong. I just did a mast replacement today for Rob94.

Jack the car up by the front psgr wheel. Remove the wheel. Remove the inner fender covering (does not all need to go, you can carefully fold back the "rear" of the inner cover by the antenna. 5.5mm socket on a 6" extension should get you to the ONE screw that's holding the unit in place. There is another piece of black insulation, with a little "peekhole" cutout covering the screw head.

Unscrew the top of the chrome antenna housing on the fender. The whole antenna motor & mast assembly will drop out. The connector for the power is there, along with an actual antenna connection for reception.

The mast kit was about $42 from Ford, or $45 for a "universal" one from Autozone. We used the Ford kit. There are instructions, but essentially you have to disassemble the mast from the motor assembly, & replace with the new one, being careful to thread the delicate plastic gear strip into the assembly.

Good luck.

SWEET!! Good go know, thanks so much. I'll definately do this in the near future. My antenna on the outside is broken completely off.

So I either have to rig one up or put a stationary antenna, a new one, or a wire window antenna. Does anyone know how hard that is by chance? Please let me know! Thanks!

I used to have one of the windshield wire antennas on a Chevy I had some years ago. Trust me, the reception wasn't that great. I think that would be a last resort. Its easy enough to change the antenna mast or the whole thing, as Fred said.
