Mufflers...

So... I just got a 93 SHO ATX. The guy before me put on aftermarket exhaust tips.... Come to find out, the tips are actually a "custom job" the mufflers are completely gone and the stuff is custom bent and collected where it looks like it split originally... So my question is..... Are there any aftermarket mufflers that I can put on the car that would make it sound ok? I heard S197 (like an 05 GT) mufflers sound ok. Suggestions?

honestly? Not really....though it all depends on your definition of "good".

There's no muffler that you can use on an SHO that will make it sound like a V8 Mustang. Matter of fact, some really expensive aftermarket systems that I've heard can make one of these cars sound like a 'ricer'. I cut the mufflers off mine and had pipes bent and welded in place of mufflers, hidden up with the original brackets, with a short downspouts like the factory mufflers {1991}. It's not loud, and eliminated the weight of two mufflers.

I know it wont sound like a V8. I just saw that the mufflers were used off that particular style of vehicle. Also, I have no mufflers on the car. Just straight pipes. Its loud as crap.

I got a set from a gt500 on my 91 right now ebay 50 bucks...ive also used them from a gt mustang on my old 92, i like the sound...its "different"...

Yeah I'm planning on putting them on both the SHO and the SC's and hopefully it'll cut the rasp in the SHO and reduce the drone in the SC.

Do they cut the rasp around 3K? what are you doing for a resonator?

i dont really hear much rasp in them @ 3 k or freeway speeds... from inside....just a mellow note...and on this car i have the stock resinator...my other car had a 2 1/2 in resinator, it was even quieter inside...
