Does anyone know where I can source mufflers (either new or used stock) for my 1998 SHO?

If not, what recommendations for replacements. I am not interested in LOUDER...ie Magnaflow.. just some mufflers that are equivalent to the stock ones that came on the car. My 1998 has 127,000 original miles, and I am the first and only owner.

Thanks for your responses.

Search around on the internet and any other sources and come up with the body length and the sizes (diameter) of the inlet and exit.
Then go to a flowmaster website and match your requirements with what they offer.
About 10 years ago, I bought flowmaster mufflers, all stainless, and welded construction. They were not shiny at all and looked like they were made by a boiler manufacturer (welded and heavy). I have never had a moments trouble with them and they still look exactly like they did when I installed them, and I think they will last forever.

Stevensville here. I've heard some Magnaflows that gave a nice rumble but weren't very loud. Myself, I cut my mufflers off and left it dumped behind the rear suspension, but I liked it loud.

I would second the comments about Flowmasters. Mine are the 40s and they have a great sound without becoming overwhelming. They were not very expensive and they seem bulletproof.

Mufflers found...

After some minimal research, I found information for the Walker (40's) which indicated that this is there offering for the SHO V8 series.

I also had measured the original mufflers...Length, Width, Height, Overall Length, Inlet and Outlet sizes. I went to a local (non-national) muffler shop, and checked out one of the generic universal mufflers that they carried. While these were not aluminized steel, they were identical in dimensions. I replaced the one blown muffler on my car with one of these. Including Parts, Labor and state tax, the total cost was $74.00.

I am sure that this will not last the16 years that the original lasted, it works just fine. Same sound, and same look after having the extension cut off the original and welded on the new one.

This appears (in my opinion) to be a very good solution.

Thanks to all for your responses.

I installed a used set of JBA's off an 05-09 Mustang GT. Had to do a little modifying to make them work, sounds good and I like the stainless tips on them too.
