SLO 4 SHO
Sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find the info I needed using the search.
Anyway, my MTX tranny is leaking pretty badly through the VSS. As far as I can tell, the fluid is coming up around the speedo driven gear shaft, past the little o-ring and into the body of the VSS. From there, it's wicking its way up the cable, fortunately stopping where the two cables meet, and not proceeding into the passenger compartment. It could also be leaking around the bigger o-ring seal between the driven gear housing and the tranny housing, but that alone wouldn't explain the fluid getting up into the VSS to begin with. It must also be leaking around little o-ring at the top of the gear shaft.
Is this little o-ring supposed to seal inside the VSS tube? When I slip the VSS over the o-ring, it's pretty loose and I can't imagine it's actually sealing anything.
Leaks around the big o-ring and the VSS threads are easy enough to fix with some sealant, but how should I fix the leak from the driven gear directly up into the VSS?
TIA.
