MTX Transmission Fluid

What's a good brand to use. I've been kinda reseaching threads here and faq's on shotimes. I've seen many posts to use ATF's in the 5-speed?! Is that normal or okay? If so, is Redline ATF the preferred fluid to use? Is this pretty easy to do without jacking up car?

Yes ATF is what is used in the MTX tranny. You can use any ATF, but a lot of guys around here use Mobile 1 or Redline ATF. I'm currently using 1 quart of Mobile 1 and 2 quarts of B&M Trick Shift synthetic in my quaifed tranny.

The owner's manual specifies ATF Type F for the MTX.

I've heard only good things about REDLINE. How many quarts do I need? Is it easy to DIY?

Redline D4 is what you want. You will need to jack up the car and get a mini hand pump to get the old fluid out and put the new in.. you will need 3 quarts of fluid to fill the MTX, Redline will ripe ya about $10 a quart, but it is worth it

3.2 quarts if you can completely drain the transaxle.

There are 2 published specs for the MTX-IV that I've seen, 2.9 qt and 3.1 qt. I've found at the track the vent tends to puke out a little with 3 or more qts in there, so I try to get it just a hair under 3 qts.
