I just figured i'd post my problem and fix. I have been having trouble with shift shaft seals ever since I took apart my trans to weld the diff. After changing it twice in twenty thousand miles I figured i'd take my time and check everything.
Before I replaced it today I took a fine grit sand paper and sanded down any nicks. It seemed that there was one that might've been ripping the seals when I shifted. Everytime I used anaerobic sealant on the outer edge and tape over the shaft.
Use the sealant sparingly, because when I removed it the first time there was quite a bit dried on the inside of the seal.
It's funny that it wasn't leaking before with the original seal and 100k. I also switched over to mobil 1.
