The fit between my passenger side halfshaft and the intermediate shaft seems to be very sloppy. Although the splined fit between the inner CV joint and the intermediate shaft seems to be pretty normal in the direction that it rotates, I can wiggle the CV joint housing about 1/8" side to side. This seems excessive, but I dont seem to have any crazy vibration symptoms to indicate that it's really a problem.

Is this kind of slop normal? The halfshafts are Advance Auto remans with around 2k on them. FWIW, the driver's side inner CV joint wiggles about half as much where it's plugged into the tranny.

Thanks,
Nate

i just replaced my intermediate shaft due to a bad carrier bearing and i stil have a lil slop. Pretty much normal from what i have seen. You can check your carrier bearing to be safe if the intermediate shaft doesn't move you should be good to go. However if you can move the shaft keep an eye out on the bearing itself. Not a hard fix but it sucks when you lose all gears in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for the reply.. My carrier bearing is nice and tight. The slop is between the intermediate shaft and the inner CV joint. The hole in the CV joint seems like it's a little too big for the shaft, and I can wobble it by hand. Just wondering if this is normal.
