I have found a really nice wheel in the 5x108 40mm offset and think I am going to order them and some tires. These wheels will be 17x7.5, the suggested tire size is 225/50/17. This tire size is also the same size suggested with a 17x7 wheel. Why would the same tire be suggested for wheels that have a different width by .5 of an inch?

Sidewalls on tires can stretch to fit a couple different size rims. For example, a 6.5" rim can handle a 205 to a 225 series tire safely (if my math is right).

Some people in niche segments take the tire size to a stupidly unsafe level in the name of looks. They will stretch a tire way beyond the safe limits and slap a 205 tire on a 10" wide rim.

As you can see, tires can fit onto a wide array of different width wheels but they will only safely fit on wheels that do not stretch the sidewalls too much.

Math sounds about right, also depends on the height.

I hate when people run narrow tires on wide rims. If I can see the lip of your rim while Im driving behind you youre the gayness.

I always want more tread on the ground so stretching a tire that is too small sounds ********. I always thought it was just because they were too cheap to buy the right size.

On a 7.5" I'd probably run a 235/45/17.

If I could afford new wheels & tires. Which I can't. :p

Good lookin' wheel.

Hey Marty.. the rims I have on my car right now (summer rims) look almost exactly like the ones you are getting, except mine are 18's.

Let me know if you would like pictures, if you don't know what they look like on a gen3 yet.

Well this sucks a$$!!! I placed an order with "Tulip City" back on December 3rd for the MSR 044 wheels and some tires, total price was to be $988.00 mounted, road force balanced, and shipped. I received an email after placing the order that the order was being proccessed and I could expect them to arrive within 7 to 10 "business" days. Well today was the 10th "business" day and still no wheels and I haven't been charged with anything yet. I called about the order only to find out that the wheels are out of stock and won't be available until around the end of January. So... I called "Wheels Next" and I was told the same thing, "can't get the wheels until late January".:banghd: I really want them now, I really need tires on my car so I guess I can just get a set of cheapo used tires on the stock wheels and then order the wheels and tires in January.
All I wanted for Christmas was some new wheels and tires....... LOL!!!

If anyone knows where to find these in 17x7.5 5x108 40mm offset please let me know, otherwise I will wait and get them in about a month or so.
