MSD Coils

Well, I'll have to admit it, MSD Coils just might be junk. Got mine in december of last year, installed them end of Jan/start of Feb and I just burnt one out. It lasted about 23k miles. MSD will not honor its warranty through Amazon or "other 3rd part vendors" because there are "too many to keep track of". It is certainly possible that I got one from a bad batch as that does happen on occasion. The good thing is amazon will be refunding me the cost and refunding my cost for installation so that was nice, but I will be going back to oem when my set comes in next week.

I've heard nothing but bad from msd for a few years. I have my box in the trunk with old ones and tools to reinstall on the side of the road if need be.

I used to use msd stuff for my old chev v8s, not coils specifically but never had an issue. I was hearing some mixed reviews for these cars but gave it a whirl anyway. I am getting miney back so it really is no big deal. But I'd rather not have to worry and/or find myself stranded.

Every vehicle I've had msd coils and distributors installed on had failures out of nowhere. Im prepared for the trend to follow on the sho. Had issues with msd distributer keeping up with the custom flatplane crank caddy 500, switched to DUI after my performance shop couldn't figure it out and issues went away and never came back. Accel is bad now I hear also, I had their old supercoils and never had issues with them though.

I was hoping these would be better than oem. My experience with COP on the Gen III SHO and other vehicles is usually oem much better quality. I didn't get great feedback with Accel coils when I was looking for replacements either. Also with my f150 I have to watch out for authentic looking chinese Motorcraft knockoffs.

That’s sad to hear, as there are 45 of us out here running them from the WSHO buy. Fingers crossed issues don’t start trickling in.

I do as well, keep a backup in the trunk.

When you swap out a whole set, always save at least a few just in case.

Yep, put them where the spare tire goes along with a 8mm or whatever size it was to remove them. Knowing my luck cylinder 2 or 4 will go and will be harder to replace on the side of the road

Better safe than sorry. I think on my rear seat removal how to on the most recent tranny thread lol there is a pic of them in my trunk just incase
