Mounting Lund Headlight Covers?

Just got a set of Lund Headlight covers, used. They looked like they would snap over the headlights, and stay but they dont seem to stay tight with the hood closed. I know the GTS ones used to mount with velcro, but how do these ones mount? The bottom of each one has 2 rubber tabs which lookl ike they woudlk eep it tight, however they dont. any info would be appreciated! Do I need to use velcro?

When I had mine I used velcro and covered my entire reflector on both sides then removed the rubber stubs and put velcro in the same place on the covers. The snap over the headlights held them in place and the velcro kept them from getting loose on the sides. When they were off it didn't look half bad either, with the reflectors covered up. thumb

I just remembered that I had GTS covers that snapped in and not lund...but it might help you anyways

I used velcro for both my front and rear Lund blackouts. Mine also snap over the headlights and the velcro keeps them from falling off... the rear I used a lot of velcro to keep them on. But they look great IMO.

What a PITA, lol. I thought these things snapped and didnt go anywhere?!?! Any way to put the velcro so it isnt seen when the covers are off? Thanks to all for the info!

I just got lund covers for my sho only mounted them on for a second (car is in storage) Lund covers do snap on you have to place the bottom section under first then bow the cover back and snap them over the top of the light. IMO the lund covers at 10 times the quality of the GTO ones I removed. You still may want to place a piece of velcro on the side marker to keep it from moving any.

NO.

The fronts snap on but I Highly recommend velcro. The backs, however, do not snap on and a lot of velcro is used. My covers don't come off 'cause I don't use my car at night... have a SLO for that. But if you take the covers off, the velcro can be easily seen, unfortunatly. And I agree that the Lunds are much better!! thumb

Have you guys thought about back covers? They make the SHO stand out that much more, trust me.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, they just slid over my lights, and didnt snap or stay tight AT ALL! I have a light colored velcro, which wouldnt show up a lot.. hmm..

As for the rears, I just used niteshades, and I clearcoated the lights after, I can't wait to install them!

Hi,

There should be two plastic tabs on the bottom of each cover. On the top, there should be two little curves actually in the plastic of the covers. That Should keep them on, but I don't trust it. So I use velcro. Hope this helps.

i just want to get a few things straight:

you cant/shouldnt use headlight/taillight covers at night, right?

Covers are too dark at night, especially for the front.
As for mounting them, I tried mounting them and they didnt even seem to hold ont he headlights at all, and there arent any broken tabs or anything on them.. I'm stumped...I guess i'l have to use some velcro, and hide it somewhere or something..

guitar333 - correct. I don't usually drive my car at night so I don't take them off. The fronts are too dark at night, the backs however are ok if you use higher watt bulbs like I did for the brake lights. But I don't recommend either at night....

95silvermtx - strange. The covers should fit expecially directly over the headlights. The wrap around ends should have velcro to keep them on. shrug Hopefully you can get them to fit.

If you get hit with them on, they can use that against you in court. Turning an accident that was their fault into your fault. frown

commonsho- True. But I don't drive it much anyway, day or night... it's more of a garage queen. But yes, I have to be much more aware of people around me while I drive because most people Do Not pay attention expecially to brake lights that are harder to see through LUND covers... it is a gamble. No accidents yet with them! (knocks on wood)

Portland huh? Not too far away. Nice to see someone else from Maine. How many miles on your '93 ATX?

I got 145k on her now. 3rd transmission. The orignal trans lasted 100k, the rebuild lasted 20k, and the second rebuild is still running good, just that jittery 2-1 downshift. Do not use Portland/A+M Transmission. There units do not last. Mid coast Maine huh? I got a camp on Beech hill pond near Ellsworth. Anywhere near you?

CommonSHO, Thank You. Like I mentioned before, she sees the garage more than the road.. but I have a '95 3.8L GL to do the bull work. I am in Woolwich. 10 minutes North of Bath - and BIW.. 20 min north of Brunswick Naval Air Station. I consider it mid coast... damn near the coast anyway. Portland is about a 45 min. trip south for me, less with the SHO.

No one else has GTS covers with a screw hole on the side? I've never mounted mine for more than 10 minutes in the drive way, but they seemed pretty stable. They clipped onto the headlight and then screwed on the side with the screw that is on the reflector of the corner marker.
