I've used the search button and have come up empty handed for this one. I need to replace my front motor mount, probably going with the reinforced, but some places I look online and when i search for a motor mount, it will say there is a left and right front motor mount. When i look at places like shonutperformance to get the reinforced front mount, it says nothing about a left and right.. Can anyone clear this up for me?

They're talking about when you look at the motor from the fender. Say you're on the passenger side, the left would be the rear and the right would be the front. As to what side is the correct way to get your side from, passenger or drivers side, I don't know!

Do you have an ATX or MTX?

I am not sure which SHO you have ATX or MTX, But the MTX has three mounts. One engine mount at the front of the engine, one engine mount at the rear of the engine and a tranny mount by the drivers wheel well. I am not very familar with the ATX.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that, I have a 93 MTX green with mocha interior...rare isnt it? :nut: lol That makes sense though that it would be left and right when you're standing on the side of the car, question is which side? I think I'm gonna go with the reinforced from shonut or wherever i can find it the cheapest. I know i have to do the front mount, and I can do that without dropping the subframe....but I'm wondering if since I'm down there and this mount has been shot for about 5K if I should do the rear and the tranny while I'm at it? How much harder is it to do the rear and tranny mount than just the front?

Most likely, your rear mount will be ripped as well. When you drive with a bad front, the rear takes all kinds of compression load that will seperate the rubber.

I would rate the rear and front mount replacement about the same, the rear just might be easier. I can't recall exactly, it's been awhile since I had to replace the mounts! :)

If it's an ATX DO NOT go with MikeD's mounts. The SHOBros mounts are a much better design, and since they are solid, you will have to tighten them up every so often. MikeD's mounts make this next to impossible. I'll have the SHOBros test model for the mounts on my car this weekend and I'll come back with a report on them.

I got a front reinforced mount from shonutperformance a while ago. I havn't had any problems with it. Changing the front doesn't take too terribly long, but it depends how the mount broke.:nut: My mount was broken in a certain way and it became a pain to get out.

haha yeah it's an mtx like I said...but I think I'm gonna just get both front and rear, not bother with the tranny mount for right now, and I'm probably gonna order the rod bearing kit and do that while I'm down there. It'll be a nice day job :thumb: One more question as well, how common is it that when you take out your motor mount that the dampener is shot? Just wondering before I pull it apart.
