I have a 93 3.0 MTX and I have a clunk noise sometimes when the motor is under a load. I was told to changet the torque struts on the motor. I went to every parts place in town, including the ford dealership. No one has the struts and no one can order the struts. What can I do to fix them?
Thanks,
Sho Mii:corn:

How loud is the clunk noise and does it only do it under load? Or does it does happen during braking too?

The clunk is pretty loud. Can hear it plainly inside of the car. Example of when the clunk happens: car is in gear above 2000 rpms and I left off the gas and the engine breaks. Or if I side step the clutch.

Front motor mount. Pretty sure.. ;) Pop your hood, and let the clutch out kinda quick for a split second. See if your motor dances. If it jumps in a forward gear, its the front mount. If it jumps in reverse, its the rear mount.

I have a friend coming over on Sunday to help me look for that. Thanks for the advice.

X2 on the front mount. Is the top of your intake manifold polished at all?

buy upgraded mounts and chuck the struts in the trash. they are useless and get in the way. you'll have allot more engine bay room

Where should I order the upgraded motor mounts from? I am also thinking of putting a turbo or supercharger on the car over the winter. Does that matter when chosing the motor mounts?:thankyou:

no the intake is not polished. So far all that I have done is enkei rims (17X7), led underglo lights (multi-color), and a kicker sound system (1- 12"Solo Baric L7, 2008 model).

he meant that if the front mount is broken (likely), there will be a spot on the intake that has been rubbing on the hood blanket...and it will look like it's been polished.

Check the vendors page for a list of SHOForum sponsers. Most, if not all of them have a solution for this very common problem.

the shonut extreem mounts are good. and deff. throw the struts and brackets away. you'll be surprised how much extra room they give you under the hood. and if you're going forced induction, you need all the room you can get.

they don't hold anything anyway, just slow the engines movement down. they are a bandaid for crap mounts
