After 15 hours of wrench time and enough cuts and blackened fingers for any ones liking..
the problem remains.. I can feel a thumping on the floor board and the pedal while driving. Much more when the wheel is slightly turned to the right. Its a thump thump thump.. not always, and usually 30mph up. I torqued all the subframe bolts to 75ft/lbs each. I don't know if its the right brake or not. Dont think its the bearing's for the wheel because there is no wobble when the car is off the ground. Your input would be greatly appreciated because im going nuts. Between three of four calipers I/friend changed out on my 94 and his 93 and the frozen e-brake cables.. and car falling off jacks.. and having to cut a subframe bolt with a hand saw, etc..etc.. etc... I'm at a loss... any ideas?

Thanks guys,

-Tom

Most likely your tire has slipped a band internally. Go get both of your front tires checked out at a tire shop. Tell them you think one of them slipped a band. If that's not it, jack the vehicle up in the front, and have someone start it up and put it in 1st gear. Watch the axle shafts for excessive bouncing, and watch the CV joints themselves for play. Make sure the wheels are blocked and you're on a level surface when you do this. If you don't see a problem there, make sure the big retaining nut that goes through the hub and the center of the wheel that holds the CV shaft in place is tight on both sides. Likewise, make sure your tires are inflated and torqued down. Good luck!

In my experience, torquing the subframe bolts to 75lbs is not enough. I would say closer to 100ft-lbs is more like it.

IMO, I would go back and retorque them.

buy a repair boot and grease. grease up the joint, add the boot, tie it up, youre set for less than 10 dollas. thats given the CV joint isnt trashed.
