I am looking to just replace the glass moonroof on my '91.
The frame that is attached to the glass has a damaged screw attachment point at the front driver side causing the front lip to lift and leak air at high speed lol.

My question;
Are the moonroofs the same for a SHO and a SLO?
If so it would be alot easier to find.
I don't need the track, shade or motor.

Thanks for any help,
Joe

Yes, the moonroof is a standard Ford product available in the Taurus and Sable models and perhaps some others.

Most noise issues are caused by the "pull-back" of the perimeter seal of the glass.
The splice is traditionally at the front leading edge.

Try a piece of tape over this gap as a preliminary action.
And all perimeter seals are the same on the Ford line of products

A good source of information is the 'Sunroofdoctor"web site.

In this case the metal ****** with the left/front attachment screw has rusted off giving me no way to attach the glass at that corner of the track. You know that the glass and it's attachment frame are one piece.
I replaced the weatherstrip a while back with no problems but this is what happens when you don't maintain a consistent maintenance schedule for the SHO.

For years when I would detail the SHO, I would get out my trusty 1/4" braided s.s. cable and use it to clean all the drain holes with no problems. The problem was from my neglect and salty conditions from living near the ocean (after 28 yrs. it has taken it's toll).

Thanks for the tips. I'll get the new weatherstrip from the sunroof doctor.

I am pretty sure I have a moonroof glass sitting in my garage. You can have it for the cost of shipping, but you can likely find one locally for less...
