How much should I cut with regards to a '93 ATX?

I know several people with Gen I MTX's who have cut 1.5 coils front and 1 coil rear.

By the way, that's a coil as measured as one complete 360-degree turn of the spring, right? Just making sure...

Any pics of these?

In regards to the suspension, there is no difference between MTX and ATX.

and yes, "one coil" is one 360 degree sweep. I used the existing end of the spring as a guide to make the next cut, cutting "one coil"

The ATX is a bit heavier in the front, not sure if this could factor in on how much you are going to take off.

Cutting using the existing end as a guide...Does that mean you made the cut a parallel to the flat end of the spring?

Gary, i still have the ends i cut from mine but no digital cam. lemme see what i can do about that this weekend.

and the ATX itself is about 200 lbs heavier than the MTX. cutting 1 1/2 coils will give you slightly more than 2" of drop.

as a reminder. i only cut the extra 1/2 coil to replicate the geometry of the factory spring. on the factory springs, each end was 180* opposite each other. on the CCs, each end were on the same side.

I am still not a fan of cutting springs. But, if you are going to cut, the difference of 200lbs between the ATX and MTX should not make that much of a difference. Just think of it of having another 200lb guy in the car with you. Not a big deal.

No problem, Dale...I just sent the springs away for cutting...

A buddy of mine is cutting them for me. Get this...he is cutting them perpendicular to the spring height...that is, the springs will be left with a flat side, which will be butted against the mounts...not bad, huh?

I'll take some pics...
