Hey boost guys...

I need help with what wastegate size as in mm should I get for use with t3/t4 .63 turbine a/r. Yes, I have searched the forum but only cud I find those guys running @ 38 mm but with bigger turbos . I am looking to make 6-8 psi everyday use and 10 max psi at strip. :thankyou:

The smallest is really the 38mm. they work fine for any setup, the spring is what determines your boost level so any W/G will work. The bigger ones just flow more and reuduce creep. Tial are 38mm and i think the old turboentics deltagates are 35mm. The newer evouliton(replacing the deltagate) is also 38mm IIRC.

You could have used an internal gated exhaust housing for that setup, but since you are doing external gate, you might as well go with a 38mm Tial. At least this way you'll have a good gate that can support some HP if you plan to bump it up in the future.

a 38mm will do just fine. its pretty much the standard size for any application, untill you get into the realy bad azz setups, which require bigger wastegates due to their insanely large turbos ..... and alot of those guys just run dual 38's, because a pair of 38mm wastegates is still cheaper then a single 44mm unit

the problem most people run into is they take an internally gated turbo and expect to much from the internal WG ..... they bump the boost up to 20+ and expect that tiny internal gate to be able to regulate a massive amount of extra exhaust, which leads to boost creep. (because the exhaust pressure continues to rise, spinning the turbo beyond the intended psi)

Agreed, Just that I dont like the look of vacuum and its set up on internal WG turbo. Yes, that is other reason why in future when I wanted to put in other new turbo to get more psi. I am just treading water with new t3/4 set up.

Other thing...If i was to get 38mm wastegate, the max psi would be 10psi and daily usage 6-8psi... which bar spring should I go with? would that be 10psi then use boost controller to dial it down to 6-8?

No, it would be the other way around. Put in a spring for the lower setting, and use the boost controller to get the higher one.

Ya, what Power Surge said. Put in a 6psi spring and use a manual boost controller to increase it from there.

I have a 38mm turbonetics evolution wastegate that I will be using. I plan on running 6psi, maybe slightly more.

BTW, if you didn't know, you can make your own manual boost controller with parts from a hardware store.

38 mm is the wise choice... **** the turbo im gonna be using in the future has a internal WG and the spring is set to 28 psi haha so yeah as you figured there will be a extrenal WG and i was planning the 38 trial myself..
you wouldnt need anything bigger

I run a .4 bar spring in my SHO 6psi or so then I just dial it up to the moon. I am also running a 38mm tial and I have 0 creep and 0 surge even on shifts and having a automatic I thought I would have surges durring shifts but the wastegate easliy keeps up even when running 12-14psi.

+1 for tial with a light spring and a MBC (manual boost controller)
