Michelin tires with sidewall cracking...

I just checked them at Tire Rack and those look pretty good for about the same money. They actually scored slightly higher on the rating scale.

Good choice.

Just checked my tires and I came across what looks like a cut from on the top edge down a 1cm of the sidewall. Its the rear passenger tire.... damn!

Yeah, one of mine has what appears like a cut, going side to side though. Defintely watch them though, it can, and will get worse.

No, but members here have them. My friend uses them on his G8 GT. Only things I have heard is that they are kind of noisy at town cruising speeds (25-45).

Noise can be a factor but unless it's excessive, it wouldn't put me off too much especially at those speeds.
Performance, longevity and price are what's more important to me.

Looks like they'd have to be on my list when it comes time to buy.

Yikes. Watch that one. It could be more of a safety issue. Better have Michelin look at it and hopefully you'll have better luck than **** altho that's probably road hazzard and unless you have coverage on the OEM's -- you'll be SOL too.

Tell 'em all your friends on SHOForum are watching the thread closely. Who knows, it might make a difference, tho I wouldn't hold your breath too long.

I'm in Toronto - yeah keeping an eye on it, I know it'll need to be replaced so trying to see if I should spend the $400 on one tire or a bit more and replace all 4...

If it were me and the tires are half worn or more, I'd bight the bullet and pay the little extra and get 4 new ones.
After all the negative on Michelin lately I'd be tempted to get away from them.

You'll have to evaluate your tires and go from there. Obviously if you got 3 good ones with half tread or more then it's a lot harder for you to get away from Michelin right now.

The other choice too is to go ahead and get 4 new one now no matter what condition the existing Michelins are in and try to recoup some money by selling the other 3 undamaged tires.

I'm sure you'd be able to sell them -- I'd take one from you as a spare since I'm stuck with 4 good ones myself -- but there will be many in my position who would buy a spare from you too.

Oh oh, if that deep it could be a problem. Keep an eye on it and check pressures regularly.

I've replaced it as I can't risk it blowing on the highway and then having to buy a Rim and a tire.. It would have failed, just a matter of time as the cut was growing in length with the heat and driving. It was about a cm last week and now probably 2 to 3 cm so had it replaced.

Good move. An expensive one but good and probably the move I would make in the same situation.
Better luck with your tires from here on, and good luck with Michelin if you ever need them to step up.
