Mice!!!

car has been sitting about two months now and I just got some time to winterize it today, opened it up, and there's mouse shit on the floor and the little f***ers had chewed a nice little hole in my drivers seat. Where could they be coming in from, I've never had this problem before in the past two years. anyone have any ideas about how to either **** or get these things out of my car.

i had a dead mouse next to my shifter rod UNDER the center console. id check there or where the rear shock mounts to body, they like to next where that sound insulation stuff is. and supposedly using moth balls and driver sheets will drive them out.

I took my center console out after I bought the car and found shit all under there, there must be some way in under there

They crawl up and through the front of it where begins by the dash. Really rather annoying.

the best way to get rid of them: load the car up with c4. boom. rats are gone. sideffect: no more car.

I don't know where they get in but I know mice love G1+2 Taurus. I know of multiple Taurus including an `89 SLO I drove for 8 years with major mice issues. Funny thing about that car was the previous owners were in their 90s. I though the interior 'scent' was from them peeing on the front seats. Only a few weeks before selling that car did I pull the rear seats to find a former massive mice farm. The damn things used nothing but the carpet insulation to build their nests and the insulation acted like a sponge when they peed, you get the picture.....

I don't know why a Taurus is a mouse magnet.

To keep mice out of the car, put a few drops of pure peppermint oil on a cotton ball. Stick a peppermint ball here and there in the car (under the seat, in the trunk, in and behind the glovebox, etc). Since I started using peppermint balls, I hardly ever see mice in the cars. The peppermint smell is pretty subtle, so it is not overbearing in the car either.

Mouse traps from the dollar store. Gets them every time.
I guess one generation of mice don't tell the next generation about the perils of mousetraps, because they all fall for it.
I bought a full-leather gen 2 seat set that had been stored in a garage, and picked them up on a 2-day trip. On day two, we noticed that the apples we bought looked like someone was taking bites out of them. Could not find the rascals (they were inside the passenger seat), so I installed them in the car, and put out the mouse traps. Wiped out the squatters in 2 days.

It is not just Taurus. If the car sits any at all they will come in. I keep traps in the my MG Midget to prevent it. I think they love the insulation and warmth. If not driven much they will take over. Maurice

This^. For some reason, mice don't like peppermint. I've had mice problems with my '95 while in winter storage and I was always told to put drier sheets everywhere because they didn't like those, but you know what? I still got them and they even chewed on one of the sheets . I bought this stuff that is essentially a small sack of saw dust soaked in peppermint oil and they went away. One other thing that I do now, mainly for must and mildew in the interior, is Damp Rid dehydrating bags that I also think help keep mice away because they seem to like a moist environment.

For me, they were somehow coming in through the dash from the firewall and living in the glovebox. What I do during the winter now is pop the glove box out so it hangs straight down to keep anything from using it.

You just have to remember to put some dehydrating packets or something similar around the car in the bag because it will lock in moisture if it is a humid day when you zip it up too.

I am storing my car at my house in AZ while I am working in CA. So, when I read this post I needed to check on the '91 and my worst fears were true! Those little fuXX'ers! Yep, a nest under the rear seat and next to the gearshift. I put traps all around the outside of the car and peppermint inside. It looks like they are storing food. The food is from the palm tree in the front yard. Luckily, no visible damage. They did eat that paper under the rear seat. What was that? Was it important?

good ol' mouse traps with a little bit of peanut butter, this way they cant just take the bait they have to fully commit to their own doom lol. We used to get them in the caddy and storage bin in the dune buggy
