I am not getting my Meth Kit until spring but want to install the pipe now. I found a plug but after a 1/2 turn it gets super tight and I think I chewed up the threads a bit. Any suggestions?

As @skyshadow07 mentioned, the fitting is an NPT tapered pipe thread. Looks like a 1/4" NPT.

If you have the correct plug (there is such a thing as BSPT, which is a British standard pipe thread) and still feel it isn't going in far enough, you can always go to any hardware store and buy the appropriate pipe tap and "chase" the threads. Sort of clean them up a bit. I ALWAYS do this after I have parts powder coated or after removing an older fitting. You don't want to be too aggressive with it as you are just trying to clean it up a bit.

Keep in mind NPT is an archaic fitting that I hate, but since it's found almost everywhere, I don't think it will ever go away. A better sealing pipe fitting is ORB, but let me get off my soapbox, LOL.

My point is...they seal horribly and you need to be careful not to drive it in TOO far as you can crack the receiving part. And you MUST use a sealant of some sort, either a soft-set paste or preferably some good quality teflon tape.
