One of the many things I did to my SHO this weekend was replace my CV shafts. Both inners had sprouted a leak and I was getting some clack clack clack when going straight. However, even after replacing them, I still have the clack clack clack.

Any thoughts on what else goes clack clack clack that gets faster with road speed, not RPM and stops when you push the clutch in?

Oh, driver side control arm, both knuckles, both calipers and rotors, both strut mounts and a few bushings got replaced. I did notice a mount from the oil pan to the y-pipe has dismounted, but I would suspect that to make a rattle, not a clack.

I wonder if my transmission is about to explode.

Sound like maybe TOB to me. Maybe weak / broken pressure plate spring? Does it make the noise when you are not moving?

Edit- Whoops! missed the "not with rpm" statement. Hmmm.... Maybe something wheel or bearing related?

Clack clack clack with road speed?

If it's an MTX (5 speed), a partially ejected differential pin will make that noise.

When you pulled the axles, did you have a significant amount of silver particulate in the fluid that drained out?

If you did, then yes, your transmission is about to explode.

It would take an act of God to eject one of my diff pins.

But yeah, I'm starting to wonder if that's not what it is. Either way, I'll part it out before I pull the transmission again. There was a fair amount of silver badness in the outgoing fluid. :(
