Lets see, every time I start it , randomly one of the multi-contour seat airbags inflates and I have to decipher which one it is and deflate it.
When I push the 7/8 9/0 buttons at the same time it locks(as it should) about 50% of the time.
The chrome around the rear tail lights is peeling.
The finish on the wheels scratches like it is covered in soft plastic.
The Sync works about 70% of the time (sorry sync cannot index all of your songs at this time, please go to www.syncmyride.com...)
There is a loud clicking from the front end that sounds like c/v joints.
The fake suede seat inserts stink when the car has been sitting in the sun.
The advertised bullet proof paint is giving in to the midwest summer bugs worse than any car I have owned.(On the front bumper cover)
All for only $45,000, may be going back to MERCEDES

Oh BTW The S**t that collects inside the doorjambs between washings.
FYI this car has 5700 miles and is babied, when the weather is even questionable I drive my other car.

Damn man, that sucks. All the problems you have listed I have only had one or two. Which is the chrome on the tail lights. But mine is very minor and only I know its there. The front bumper is f'n terrible when it comes to bugs and rock chips and all. Ford should have never used that as a selling point on tv. My '01 Lightning's bumper doesn't chip that easy. As for the rest of your list, I'm keeping my fingers crossed those don't happen to me.

Sorry to hear that. I have the same amount of miles and have only had the peeling chrome which was fixed. I also hear the clicking now but am ignoring it as its not a big deal for me.

Yeah, really talk to your dealer. My taillights were replaced no questions asked. Took a couple weeks to get the parts in but I guess Ford is dealing with a bunch of replacements.

I do have the phantom seat inflation thing - I plan to mention to the dealer at the next oil change.

I'm trying a Droid X and it works with Sync 1000x better than my iPhone did.

The paint is much better than my G35 was.

Not sure about the rest but so far this car has had less initial quality issues than my G35. And I'm at 11k.

The paint on the bumper does stink! I have rock chips in mine already and my car was not driven in the winter at all.. So no sand blasting.. the Bugs seem to embed into the bumper..

My wheels also have rock chips.

and I thought i was the only one with the stinky car! after 10 seconds of ac or the window down the smell goes away. I think it has to do with the ac though and not the seats.. If I drive with the ac on and park it in the sun it will smell, if I drive it with the windows down and park in the sun its ok..

There is a loud clicking from the front end that sounds like c/v joints.

Before you let the dealer try and figure out what is wrong have them review this.(Took the dealer 4 days before they figured this out.... still amazed) This is the service report I received after they fixed the clicking noise on my SHO:

Field engineer road tested car and verified noise.

Raised vehicle on alignment rack and atempted to pinpoit noise.

Listened to complete front end with electronic stethescope.

Noise sounded loudest in kuckle and strut area.

Removed lower controll arm and checked ball joint for binding.

Removed steering kuckle and pulled out wheel bearing.

Inspected wheel bearing.

Applied anti sieze to bearing boar and reinstalled bearing.

Removed strut.

Removed strut cap and bearing assembly.

Inspected bearing and repacked.

Reassembled front end.

Engineer road tested Taurus, noise was gone on left side that was apart.

Performed same procedures to right side of vehicle.

Disassembled left suspension and reassembled.

Road test vehicle both sides now quiet.

Performed front end alignment check.

Reset toe.

Road test one more time, noise gone.

Regarding the clicking in the front end.

I have noticed this off an on for the last 6 weeks or so. It almost seems like something is loose in the front end or a bad CV joint. However it will be apparent only to me. IOW unless I mention it to a passenger they won't really hear it.

Then it seems to go away , until it comes back again.

Does this seem like the same thing , others are describing. And of course the dealer doesn't hear it.

7/8 9/0 buttons issue: if you hit 7, hold it, then hit 9 will it lock ? some systems are more picky then others on what constitutes "at the same time" for hitting 2 buttons at the same time.

what seams like "at the same time" to any normal human being might not be good enough for the keypad to realize what your trying to do

SpAz: Thanks, I copied and faxed that R.O. info to my dealership, hope it helps

HotRod: I hold them together for at least 2 seconds, the service mgr says his wifes MK-S
does the same thing, my wifes MK-S also does the same thing, it is a problem common to this chassis

F.Y.I. I used to be a "Fixed Operations Director" at a large Ford store, therefore I know what to expect (and what to be iritated with) in a new design. So far I have had 0 problems with the engine (the only NEW piece).
But somewhere along the line Ford must have relaxed guidelines on vendors:
Paint, Plating, Synthetic Materials, Etc., Switchgear.
I am a ford fan and dont mean to be difficult, (I even still think my SHO is cool looking) but give me a break, where did they forget to pay attention to the basics.

on the 7/8 9/0 button locking thing .. it has to be an issue with the key .. if you walk up to the car, touch the panel, then press any number it will cause the car to unlock if you have the key with you. If you don't push both buttons at the exact same time, then it is getting the same signal you would use to unlock it.. or am I smoking crack?

gipraw: you are correct. So the end around on that is to hold the 7/8, 9/0
buttons down at the same time for 2 seconds (according to the owners Manual), but in my case I am prone to loosing keys, so they are ALWAYS in the console

cool, thanks for the clarification. I just tried it, and it works most of the time, but not all the time on mine ..

I also just noticed that I have some paint peeling off the edge of my front bumper cover right by the driver's side headlight .. ugh.

Does the AC kind of smell like honey? Thats how mine was, I thought it was from sitting in the showroom for so long. I used some AC spray and it went away.

Buy this for the bugs, it does an awesome job.

Just a "Heads Up" on the sweet but dirty feet smell coming from the a/c vents at startup. That is the water standing in and on the evaporator core, if you bring this to your service dept. attention, Ford carries a disenfectant spray that will take care of this.
The smell I am refering too is a strong new carpet in a hot house smell, guess it should fade with time.

The problem is not getting the bugs off the paint, its the damage they leave behind, looks like I've been driving behind a gravel truck
