Lucas Power Steering Fluid!

hi all,
here's an easy mod. i bought some Lucas power steering fliud (not the stop leak stuff) that advertises that it improves steering response and it really works! i have changed the fluid before but this stuff gets rid of that soft spongy feeling when you turn the wheel. $7.99 for 16oz so it's not cheap but one bottle is enough if you are just using a turkey baster to empty the reservoir like i did. HTH

ATX fluid = PS fluid.

And yes, it's an additive. I've found over the years that Lucas products do seem to have a little more effect than other brands. In fact, I've found their PS additive to nearly eliminate a particularly loud groan from the rack at one point in the past.

Uhm ATX fluid isn't the same as PS fluid. If you put PS fluid in a system that requires ATX fluid it will be catastrophic. But I definately agree with you that some Lucas products do help some what.

I know it's not the same, but I've been putting ATX fluid in my racks for quite some time and it works just fine. SHOs do not require ATX fluid so as far as this discussion is concerned your point is moot.

I never said SHOs required Transmission fluid, someone else did and I won't mention any names because I am not one to gossip, I was just pointing out that Trans fluid and PS fluid are not the same.

Ok, did you actually type that part about the gossip or is that a new, insidious wordfilter? cos that made no sense lol.

Anyway, I guess my (inadequately worded) point was that for the SHO, ATF will work equally as well as PS fluid in the PS system. Maybe even a little better, depending on the quality of the ATF (I use Mobil 1).

I used some walmart brand high mileage ATF, it works really well and its cheap.
