Hi there,

This spring plan on getting a 73mm MAF, SHOShop Y-Pipe and exhaust, in addition to some suspension and brake mods.

My question is I have read up on LPM's, and from what I can see they can do quite a bit of good. I have also read about an 8000-rpm revlimit with these modules. Do you guys forsee any problems with 8000-rpm and the otherwise Ford OEM-equivalent belt-driven accessories, most importantly being the water pump. I remember reading how the Chevy LT-1's water pump would cavitate above 4500-rpm, I would certainly not want that to happen in the SHO...

Is there any power to be found in having an 8000-rpm revlimit? I know the SHO has a rev-happy engine, but from what I have seen on dyno curves the torque and hp numbers start dropping well before the existing 7300-rpm revlimit.

Without under drive pullies, you definitely don't want to go above the stock 7300RPM redline. I have an LPM and the rev limiter was raised to 8K. I've only taken it there once and I found there is no need to go that high. The HP and torque start to fall off after 6700RPM so the stock redline is the best shift point to stay in the power band.

The only exceptions would be if you have stage 2 cams and serious intake/head work to make power above 7300RPM. Or if you have a real fast SHO and need the extra RPM to stay in third gear through the traps in the 1/4 mile(which is around 108mph at 7300RPM in third)

yeah i second olympic, 8000 rpm will do some serious strain on your drive accessories. and while the engine will be fine, we all know those "rock-solid" (insert sarcasm here--->___) ford accessory parts wont thumbs_u
