Help!!! I went to Autozone's website to order a vcg and intake manifold gasket only to find that they say not available. Yet, people seem to order these from them every day. Am i missing something?

Also, I am thinking of ordering the $59.99 spark plug wires. Anyone try these? Are they any good? Am i wasting my money? Also, do i have to use double platinum plugs ($6/ea) or can i go with $3 plugs. Finally, when i do change out my gaskets, is it necessary to use RTV in the corners as described by some. Some used it, some didn't. Fuel question for you...I hear a loud wine coming from my tank. Does that indicate bad fuel pump or bad fuel filter? Thanks for your help.

I just checked Autozone's website for those parts for my 94 MTX, and they have them. You cannot get them at your local store, you must order them online. What year/tranny do you have?

Ebola6, this has been hashed and rehashed to death, brought back from the grave and rehashed some more.

They are available online only. Use the search and the part #s and prices will come up. For whatever reason, the zone only lists them as for a '91. shrug

Avoid cheap plugs and wires like a $2 whore. Get the Motorcraft ones and enjoy them for 100,000 miles.

He said it. The Fel-Pro VS50378R valve cover gasket set is available for a '91 SHO. I just verified it. Buy the Motorcraft AGSP32PP plugs ($3.99 ea ) and WR-4033 wires ($99.99) from FordPartsNetwork.com or the plugs from O'Reilly for $3.79 each (if available to your location).

dont buy the cheap wires. i have a set of them on now because my misfire was getting worse and im still waiting for my taylor wires to arrive. theyre not very well made. they fit and they work, but not of the same quality as motorcraft or taylor wires.

dont bother with the rtv on the gaskets unless they keep falling out of the valve covers before you can get them on. then just use a dab to hold them in place. you may prefer to do the spark plug well gaskets with some rtv though since they usually go more often. kinda wish i had done that myself....

and as far as your fuel pump whine, when does it happen? is it all the time or only when you turn the key to the on position?

You're supposed to use RTV on the corners of the cam bulges on the left side of the engine as you face the windshield. Use some Permatex Ultra Grey (O2 sensor safe) and put a little dab in the corners of the head that the cam semi-circles make. Also you will notice that the front cam bulge has a rough texture. Spread a very thin layer of RTV over this textured surface between the bulge corners and then place your two dabs of RTV in the corners. Don't use the RTV and you risk leaks in those areas.

The rest of the valve cover gasket should be installed dry. Ditto for new spark plug tube seals. Those gaskets are meant to make the best seal between clean, smooth, and DRY surfaces. Since the cam bulge corners and the one textured cam bulge are not smooth some RTV is used there as filler.

I followed the 60K video from CincySHO and they recommeded a lite seal of RTV on the plug gaskets. shrug
