Looking for pos rims and tires

just as the title states, im not looking to spend big bucks as i am only putting these on my gen 3 to be parked not driven for the winter. i dont want to leave my chromes on there throughout the winter, those will be brought inside, so i dont care what kind of shape they are in or if they hold air(some would be nice though) as stated car is put away for winter, but want to put pos tires and rims on them, so if anyone has some locally that are just sitting there let me know thanks

If it's not gonna be driven, what's the problem with leaving on the chrome wheels?

Anyway, there are enough sets of Gen 1-2 slicers out there to do what you want.

Why not just put it up on blocks? That's what I do with my 93, and bring the rotors and wheels inside for winter.

reason i am not leaving them on is

A: moisture and condinsation( car will be outside in carport covered, still will get hit somewhat from the elements)

B: i dont want to create flat spots in the brand new tires as previousley stated it will not be moved at all

C: putting it on blocks will stretch out the springs and i dont want to do that

im not worried about the rotors as they will be all replaced come spring, but while i am at it, is it wise to remove the calipers for the whole winter?( have them powdercoated) or is it not good to leave break lines open for that long?

I wouldn't leave the brake lines open for that long. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, which in turn could rot your lines from the inside out. If you do want to take off the calipers for an extended length of time though, I think NAPA sells a cap that will screw onto the fittings of the steel line. They'd be in the brake line fitting section, and you may have to try a couple to get the right size.

To expand on (C): Leaving it up on blocks, jackstands, anything that's going to let the suspension hang isn't a good idea. All the rubber bushings may take a set that way, and once you let it down could cause cracking, etc. I know you know this, because we all discussed it at breakfast, just putting the info out there for others.

on a lighter note never thought of using doughnuts, yeah that will work i just need to find 2 more and im golded or 1 more if you can get three...any takers

maybe I am a noob (really don't think so) but isn't it better to have the weight off the suspension when the car is being stored?

No. And it doesn't mean you're a noob or anything, there's probably as many opinions out there about how to store a car as there is about the best oil/filter to use. Or how many gallons a Gen 3 SHO fuel tank holds.... lol

When it comes to car care, I trust Don Mallinson's advice. Hasn't failed me yet!

I don't think the spare donut will fit over the front brakes. You can probably get away with removing the rotor, and zip tieing the caliper to the spring, or as Bob stated, getting those caps.
