Jason, I'd like to call on you again since you did this. I had a 2016 Limited on the lift today and gave things a look. The part you replaced, ford calls a Front Bumper-Spoiler Lip Lower Deflector, is for a lack of better terms, toy tabbed to the front bumper cover all the way around the top. Did those tabs on the Duraflex front spoiler match up with the slots in the bottom of the bumper cover? I'm still trying to envision what/where you had to mod the Duraflex product and how much was involved. If the tabs line up, that looks like 90% of the fight and my main concern with gaps against the bumper cover should be eliminated.

There are no holes or tabs in the after market front lip spoiler. There is a gap between the air dam and this. I had to drill my own holes and fab brackets to connect them together. That was the only way to keep it "tight" to the car. Here is one of the brackets on the driver side. Just above the one you see here there is another longer one also connecting this point to the front bumper mount.4 total.

The picture you posted looks like it's nice and tight to the bumper cover, the factory part has tabs at the top too that snap into the bumper cover to hold it in place. Clue me in.

Ok. When you remove the factory piece (deflector). The new one fits into the void left behind. No tabs. No holes. I'm using the brackets to pull everything tight. Does that help-ish?

I received some generic instructions from Extreme Dimensions that makes the 2010-2012 deflector. From what I gather, it uses an adhesive strip around the top. one screw/bolt at each end where it wraps in front of the tires, leaving those of us with the later 2013+ models to fab the bottom bracket. I hate to be dense, but does that sound right? I couldn't understand the no tabs at the top thing, but it sounds like they use an adhesive strip to secure it on the upper edge.

Mine did not come with an adhesive strip for the top. I drilled a hole and used factory hardware to secure it in front of each wheel.

Thanks one more time J, by now you've gotta be wondering "what's wrong with this dense sob". Extreme Dimensions just emailed me a general sheet for all their product installations by item, stated nothing specific available by make/model so I guess some lip spoilers have the adhesive strip, ours does not. The GTG lower grill showed today so I'll probably pop that in this weekend and drop the hammer on an upper choice and lip spoiler.

Got the front lip spoiler in today. I bought this knowing that everyone said it will not fit. I had to find out for myself. Not sure why people say it doesn't work? I am aware that the 10'-12' cars have a different front end. It worked on my 15'! It just doesn't bolt on, I had to make my own brackets, but that thing is solid.
I chose to keep it the flat black to match the rest of the plastic even though it's fiberglass. I'm not ready to paint all the plastic yet.

Lip spoiler came in this week so I pulled some things off after work to see if I could figure out how Jason worked his magic...as usual, even after reviewing his work above I'm not certain how the best or possibly only way to go about this is.


My first thought was to pull off the OEM extension and use the channel to hold the top of the chin spoiler, but there's a dip, not a straight channel.


Jason, did you overlay the OEM front bumper extension then add the braces at the bottom?

Thanks again J for all the pics and advice. After a lot of work and fighting I went a little different route and reinstalled the front bumper extension and overlayed it with the lip. The only way it was possible was by sanding to fit the contour of the bumper time and time again. I'd do a partial install and use painters tape to make a guide where the high spots were and sand to the tape line and repeat (over and over again). It snaps around the ends with authority, maybe still a little tighter than I like considering it's fiberglass based, I might relieve a little more material when I remove it for painting when things warm up.
Anyone wanting to do this, it's not for the faint of heart unless your a bodyshop guy. The fiberglass has voids in places that I back filled with resin, and my part was not very uniform on the back side that mates to the body so there's lots of trial and error with a $200 part. It probably sits about the same height as the rubber deflector under the car, but it's much further forward and I found I could just get the toes of my shoe under it at the curb to my driveway. I think with drop springs it could make some situations really close. For the life of me with all the Taurus on the roads I cant imagine why nobody has released a plastic kit.
