I thought I was having an alternator failure (again) but I found the connection from the battery cable to the alternator actually is broken...makes a wonderful fireworks display when you touch the broken metal to the alternator.

Well, where is a good place to get a replacement battery cable? Should I go with stock, or is there some kind of aftermarket cable I should go with?

Thanks for the help!

If there is enough slack why not put a new terminal on it? You can get cables of various lengths at most auto parts stores.

Paul, do you mean replace the broken part on the cable, or simply replace the cable from the battery to the alternator?

Autozone quoted 6 gauge wire: Positive side is $3.09 and Negative side is $4.69...Why does that sound so incredibly cheap?

Because they probably won't fit the SHO....They're more likely for a 3.0L SLO.

If it was me I would just replace the end if there was enough cable. If not you should be able to find a generic fit cable in the length you need.

Wow...I have been out of town for a long time...Here is an update of what I did.

I replaced the ring lug and crimped it on the the freshly cut wire. Works like a charm. Now I just need to properly tie-down the calbe so it does not hit the fan...thanks for the help!
