Hey!! Just like the title says. I'm not having too much luck on selling my SHO so I decided I'm gonna go through the engine. Maybe powdecoat some things and really clean it up. Have it rebuilt etc... Basically what I'm wondering is if I replace the flywheel do I have to pull the whole engine/tranny?? Was talking to a friend and he said one or the other had to come out. I really want to put a lightweight flywheel in it because I found one cheap but if I have to pull then engine I'm gonna rebuild it. So any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

I believe you only need to pull the transmission. I have an ATX though and I've never dug into it so YMMV.

You need to pull either the tranny or the engine. It's straightforward to change out the flywheel with either removed, though.

wow ranger, u make it sound so easy. So how come that whole 3 step procedure took me a total of 20 hours (minus meals and bs time with Tom)?

Clutch job complete, and yes, I removed the flywheel while I was at it...also did the rear main, and the carrier gasket. only a few leftover parts too.
