I'm in the process of selling my 2009 Escape and I want to replace it with a 2010 Taurus SHO. I'm looking for one loaded with Nav and sunroof around 20,000 miles or less and was trying to get a realistic price range. Would the savings be worth having an auto broker purchase it at auction? The price range for local dealers in my area is 31,000 to 34,999.
Thanks in advance.

I've been looking too and most are $33k+.

I would try to find one for under $30k, then you know you got yourself a good deal.

Used cars are keeping their values like crazy, which sucks for guys like us that want to buy used with low miles. But it's also good that they are keeping their value so well.

Here is what they are going for at Manheim (main/largest auto auction house). You can see most are going for near $30k, so dealers are trying to sell them for $33k+.

when i bought mine, a few months ago, the best I could do was 31k for a sho with 29 thousand miles on it. anything with less mileage was substantially higher priced...

i was able to find lower mileage cars, but they would be up around 34 to 35k.

I know the dealer offer me $16,000 for my 2009 FWD 4 cylinder Escape, I think I'm going to still sale my Escape, I have another car to drive and see if the price will drop later this summer or I can catch a deal. My price ceiling is 28,000 to 29,000.

Actually right now there is one at a dealer in our area that has a Dark Green SHO with 22K miles and is asking $33,995.

After looking at the numbers, with 0% financing and X-plan pricing, I think I would be better off buying new and finance the car for 60 months instead of 48.
Thanks for all the info especially the Auction price list.

We have 2 @ Avis Ford in Sfld, MI that are both going for 32-34k. They both have the mileage you're looking for. You can see them at our website Avisford.com. I don't know where you are in MI.

I got my '10 SHO back in March with around 13k on it I think - miles were really good - for around $28,500. I had to drive 3hrs to get it (damn near Kansas City) but it was worth the drive.

No nav though - but I've got a good idea where I'm going... and if I don't, I make it up :D

I purchased my Escape from Troy at Avis Ford traded in my 96 SHO under the clunker program. My local dealer stop accepting deals so I called Troy and after a 45 min drive, an hour and half later I was driving the Escape. Fast transaction no problem no hassle. I live in Superior Township between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor.
