Mine weighed in at 3580 with a quarter tank of gas. And that was the first year I got it (before the northern weight reduction happened).

You talking about the salt rusting off some weight? lol

if you wanna drop weight for a track car the 2 biggest places to start are the carpet and the dash, just build a cheap looking light weight dash that is certified for track use.

granted you take the carpet out your gonna sound like a tin can as i hear.

the seats of course swap them with some racing seats, or if your counting your pennies.. milk crates haha.

the interior has the most dead weight that you can remove.

of course exterior there is stuff but most of it is important.

i think my gen 2 dash was about 150 lbs easy and the carpet was at least 120 lbs. right theres a fat guys amount of weight.
i forget the equation but every 100 lbs is like 2/10ths off your et time or something.

you know a cool idea would be, if your good with body work and have all the tools would be to use aluminum for doors and fenders and such.

umm another weight saver idea is cut the spare tire well out and throw a thin sheet of some metal down in its place. i dont know if you ever seen how thick that thing is. haha

LMAO! Have you seen Ian's car? Oh wait, lemme guess, you're one of these guys who talks trash but doesn't actually SHOw up at anything. I don't remember seeing you at Lapeer this past October for instance.

I know, I know, you've got the super-duper most fastest MTX SHO in the world. We're all a-holes for not believing you. :nut:

i forget the equation but every 100 lbs is like 2/10ths off your et time or something.

I don't how different the gen3s are from 1&2 but, I pulled all my carpeting out of the gen3 and their is NO WAY that it weighs 120lbs. or even anything close to it. Maybe 25lbs at the most.
I pulled the dash out but had help, so I don't know if was 150lbs. But it was alot closer to 150 than the carpet is to 120lbs:biggrin: . I of course put the dash back in (since i do kinda need it).
A fwe odd ball things that can be pulled out, all speakers and RCU. carpet material inside the doors, all venting pieces, heater core, AC unit, everything to do with the AC unit under the hood (maybe keep compres to keep same belt), airbags.
By removing the AC piece that looks like a radiator and sits in front of the Rad shoud remove maybe 5lbs (really light) but it "should" help cool engine down ALOT better.
Cars 8 23 06 007
Basically anything you don't use or need can go. you can see the heatercore is gone and the AC thing is still their. But it's gone now.
In fact the littel cable you see lying near the gas pedal is even gone. That does something with the button on the floor shifter. It just means I don't have to touch the brake when pushing the button in ( but I always will anyways)

So then explain to me how on a D.O.T. certified scale the 98 weighed in at 4032lbs with my 235lb self and a half a tank of gas, but my 95MTX weighed in at 3480lbs with me, my sub box in the trunk (40lbs, give or take), about 25lbs worth of assorted trash in the back seat and 1/2 tank of gas.....and IIRC, my old 94ATX fully optioned only weighed about 3520 wet...

My fully optioned '95 ATX weighs 3650. Gen 3s are around 3550-ish. SHOZ123 is right, once the trans is rebuilt and done right, the car becomes quite fun. I've never gone toe to toe with a Gen 3, so I don't know the outcome :nut:

So you're saying if I lost 100 pounds or so my car would be fast? Now if that isn't motivation to lose a few lbs I don't know what is. :p Makes me want to start the diet right now.

Explain. Ok the scale was way off. At the 03 convention we all weighed the cars. Mine with bigger bars, heavy ass tires and wheels was 3716

these were nascar corner weight scales.

gen11's are lighter. My 95 before I started gutting it was 3055. MTX loaded

But wasn't that down at the track. And wouldn't you have a full tank of gas? And you were probably sitting in the driver's seat.
