Read that the SHO is faster if you leave it in D and not use the Paddle shifters and geting the revs up. Just wondering what evreyone thinks.

The computer (D) will know best when to shift and give optimum times, but shifting for oneself is so much fun I love it.

I used the paddles a few times, but felt like they were more of a novelty "Hey, look what I can do" kind of thing.

I like to use the paddle shifters, even if it IS slower... I feel like I'm going faster. LoL. Not to mention that its fun... That is ofcourse until i hit traffic on the Belt Parkway (might parking lot) in brooklyn... then it sucks. Anyway... any comments on how those tunes people have are affected if Paddle shifters are used?

The tunes dont affect the paddle shifters...you may want to be a little more careful using them if you run a tune however, because the rev limiter will be removed and as long as it takes those shifters to actually shift...you may get yourself into trouble.

Great point, that had never crossed my mind. Now I will not use the paddles as long as I'm running a tune.

Hmmmmm, that's something I hadn't thought of either. Thanks for the reminder Darrel --

Something else about the paddles is that the ones in the SHO are the reverse pattern of the ones in the new 'Vette.
You can well imagine the confusion that might cause if one isn't paying attention all the time. (ask me how I know.:frown:)

I wish these manufacturers would stick to one pattern.

I know, I know. I shouldn't be driving a Chevy anyway.:p

Anyway thanks again for the reminder on the rev limiter Darrel. It's something that had completely slipped my mind.

I haven't used them but one time. I may give them another shot, but I honestly doubt it. Part of the issue is that the engine is so quiet, (and I usually have the stereo playing), that I don't have a good audible signal to shift.

Paddles suck for straight line. I use them for cornering to pick your gear and control rpm where I want. Occasionally run M for roll on drag start, but after first shift I pop into D mode.
