Leaking Door

- I am not even sure this is a problem but I thought I would let you folks know, I was making a sandwich and admiring my SHO when I noticed a puddle under the rear passenger door and dripping coming from the car. It usually sits up front so I don't notice things like this but today I did. When I went to investigate, I pulled back the rubber door gasket just a little bit and water literally pored out like it was coming from a hose. It has not rained here in awhile and I have not washed it lately so its been in there for some time. I think some dirt got in the drain so that is why I have been carrying water around with me. Normally this would bother me a great deal BUT after investigating a little further I noticed all four doors have no less then two good sized drain holes in them so it may be this is not uncommon (notice I didn't say assumed).
- So does anyone out there have any thoughts on this, is there something I should do, any thought on where the water is coming from, is this a common thing. As always thinks for any help you can give me, have a great week.

My 2013 did the EXACT SAME THING - both back doors did it. Heavy rain, I'd be driving and hear sloshing. Back doors were full.

I never did anything about it before I turned it in at end of lease.

My 2016 seems to be immune. Not sure why.

All I know is, when my 2013 did it, I'd pull the weatherstrip away from the door drains, and it would be like it was stuck to the paint. Rub silicone **** on the rubber, or notch it slightly right at the drain?

- That is really good advice, I had the same thing soon as I pulled back the rubber it ran out, silicone sounds like a plan.

Doors are part of the drainage system nowadays, as you will see seals not on the door edges but under the inner panel area. So keeping sunroof drains clear is an important maintenance item.

To funny.. I had the same thing happen to me last week, I hear water sloshing around in the rear of car open the rear door and it is full
of water.. So I am open and closing the door and its dripping out then I feel around for drain holes move the lower w/s and the water starts pouring
out.. Seems like the w/s is clogging the drain hole..

That is crazy, I never knew car's now have a "Drainage System" much less thought the doors would be part of it. I thought the goal was to keep water out of the car not drain it through the doors. I guess since its a design thing the electronics are safe which is what I care about but its still crazy if you ask me.

Fluid Film on that area might be good protection from the elements.

Crud builds up between the rubber and the door and the water doesn't drain. Sometimes just peeling the rubber back is enough to fix it. Had this happen once on the rear drivers side door and happens on my Altima as well. Never experienced it let alone heard about this being an issue with any other car.

I am not sure what Fluid Film is and where to use it, but I will keep it in mind, I did read that articale you suggested an sounds like I need to take a look at the sunroof also.

I'm pretty sure that is what happened, there was a bunch of dirt on the bottom of the door, it formed an kind of seal causing the rubber to stick to the door.

When I wash the car I always wipe the bottom of the doors and weatherstripping. But, this is a good reminder to wipe some silicon on the weatherstrip of my near 8 year old vehicle.

Spraying silicone into the vertical window channels also helps them keep moving freely.
