I emailed KYB from their website and they gave in a one sentence terse response that they wouldn't essentially do anything to the GR-2s, which makes them pretty much worthless. I say just buy Konis and don't take the crappy KYB route just because they are cheaper. Plenty of companies make somewhat unprofitable parts that supplement a larger selection, but since KYB won't play ball I personally won't even consider them anymore.

Koni is the only one left with a decent sport strut and because of that they'll have my business.

I signed the petition also I'm definitely all for this idea. The price of the koni inserts are pretty high and the kyb gr2s are horrible so why not go for it.

Similiar? Yes. Can you mix and match? No.

The Gen 1/2 struts/springs will not work with Gen3/4 sturts/springs.

Now a SHO Koni on the other hand might work with Gen 3/4. More on this later.

Nope- It'll never happen. They'll extrapolate a number of "potential buyers" from the sig's they get, and then a "probable buyers" extrapolation from that percentage. Probably about 10%. I wouldn't expect them to do it, best to figure something else out.

Yea I dont get it. They already manufacture the housing.. How could they not profit? And wtf car do they sell 2000 struts per year for besides a civic?

So because KYB isn't willing to lose money on a niche market with a mean age of under 20 years old you're not going to give them any more of your business?

We JUST got them for the W bodies and there are millions of those out there. Even at that, they carry a premium price. SHO Bros is making the Konis a lot more feasible for more people.

There must be some way to modify the suspension setup so that the cars can accept different application struts. Like maybe those available for Mustangs or something. Is there some way to to do something like this? Like make a bracket to allow for the diameter and travel distance of a Mustang (Corvette, Camaro, Chrysler 300, etc...) size strut/shock.

Take a look at the AGX's for the GTP. The SHO inserts work in GTP housings so we can assume that the housings are the same diameter. The spring seat shouldn't be an issue which leaves the strut mount (what attaches it to the knuckle). Simply cutting this piece off entirely should allow for use of the GTP struts in a Taurus.

The problem then is that 97' - 03' GTPs don't use the strut for their sway bar endlink attachment. You would have to weld a bracket to the control arm (similar to the GTPs) or you would have to weld a bracket to the strut.

You could also take the 04'+ GP Comp G struts (as well as the GXP struts which are Bilsteins) and run those as they do have the endlink mount on the strut. I'd be willing to pass someone the parts for cost if they wanted to take the task on.
