My latest white 94 atx was acquired from a guy who was putting in a rebuilt trans and abandoned the project because he couldn't figure out how to rewire & reconnect everything....

I now have it running, and it has a few issues, most of which I know how to take care of myself. However, there is one that is new to me and has me stumped:

The KOER test returns the following codes:
136 - lean on LH bank
213 - spout circuit open
327 - dpfe output below minimum
632 - od cancel switch not cycled during test

I did the cycle the od cancel switch, and it lit the 'od off' light on the dash, so I'm hoping that I just didn't do it at the right time.

The dpfe output is below the minimum due to the connector not being on the dpfe - the connector looks like it was run over by a truck, so I'll have to replace that - and I have a wiring harness from which to borrow, so that's all going to be okay.

The lean condition is likely a bad o2 sensor, and I have another that I can swap in.

The spout circuit open is causing me a headache. The spout connector is in place, and the pins look good. Do those connectors go bad? Or does this suggest that somewhere in that wiring at the back of the engine there is a wire that has a problem? The engine runs like the spout is open, because it doesn't have much power, etc. Is that connector just a jumper, or is there a resister in there? Where do I go from here?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

You can test for an open in the harness by checking for continuity between pin #5 at the DIS connector and pin #36 at the PCM connector.

If it's not a short in the harness, then I would suspect a bad DIS.

So the harness ohms out fine between the pins referenced above. I'm checking for another DIS in my parts collection now....

Swapped the DIS and the codes went away. Thanks, Rockledge - right on again.

Now, I need to do a top 60k, because the rear valve cover leaks like crazy.....

Mine was because the connector was crushed by the idiot prior owner... I swapped on a connector from a spare harness I have, and its all better now.

Now I need to do valve cover gaskets, because it smokes like a mosquito fogger due to how much oil is leaking onto the rear exhaust manifold - gaskets are on their way from rockauto now....

My car out intermittently start running like it was running on 2 or 3 cylinders. I could still do 70 on the express way but it took a long time to get up to speed.

I checked for codes and got a 213 SPOUT Circuit Open. I also checked for continuity as stated in one of the above posts. Thanks to this thread I replaced the DIS which resolved my problems.

Thanks Guys.

I know this is a zombie thread, but I had the open SPOUT code for a while (the car always seemed to run just fine, but the code was always there) - it was caused by the DIS as well. The DIS that was on the car and causing the issue was aftermarket as far as I can tell - there was no "Motorcraft" stamping on the outside of it. Swapped the DIS with a spare one and the code has never returned....
