does anyone know the voltage output and recommended testing procedure for 3.2 knock sensor? More importantly, does anyone have a source for a replacement sensor?

A quick search did not show much available. Hit up Chad, Irish Pride on the forum. He works at Ford Parts and used to work at Oreilly's. He might have a better database.

This is a part number I found searching E5TF12A699AA

The knock sensor is tested by the key-on-engine-running test, when you "goose" the engine at the proper time. http://yamahasho.com/eec/eec.htm and sets a trouble code 225. Any sensing problem should set that.

EEC breakout box between pin 23 and 46 is good if 2.4V - 2.6V DC. When measured in AC mode, the AC voltage should stay steady between idle and 3000 RPM or else bad PCM. Other procedures are to check the wiring for open circuit or short.

The knock sensor is basically a specialized microphone.
