Speaking of keys, theres one over on the left side of the keyboard called "Caps Lock". You might want to check yours, I think its stuck also. :D As for you keypad sounds like you eather have a bad connecton somewhere in the wiring or the pad is broken. Did it quit working all of a sudden? How do you know that both buttons don't work? To do any testing you will need to remove the door panel to get to the connector. The brown wire is the common for all the switches, the yellow wire is for the 7-8 button, and the red wire is for the 9-0 switch. You can check this at the keyless module first, but it wont tell you if its a break in the wiring or a bad switch, you will have to trace it from there.

Just got the car about a month ago so no history, The pad doesn't light up when the 5/6 or 7/8 key is depressed, but lights when the rest are. I was trying to avoid removing the door panel if it was not necessary. thanks for the wiring codes, that helps.

Do any of the keys look damaged? Your best bet would be to start at the keyless module, its mounted on the bottom of the package tray in the trunk (at least that where mine is in my '90). The wire for 5/6 is is yellow w/ black stripe.

I almost forgot, if your keypad is messed up and you dont want to change it you can change the code so you don't have to use any of the broken switches. There are instructions on Shotimes.com on how to do this.

the keypad looks like it has never been used. I thought about changeing the code but as I read it you have to enter the original code first, which on my car includes the 7. twice shrug gonna look at some connections if the weather holds sat.

Thats just the secondary code, to change the main code you have to open up the keyless module and move some resistors around (unsolder them and re solder them). It does not sound very hard to do. Here is a good write up with pictures on how to do it.

I had the same problem in my 1990 SHO. Mine turned out to be the keypad. They are very easy to replace. I used the process of elimination to figure out that my keypad was broken. If the rest of the lights are working then the keyless entry module isnt broken and the chances of the wires being broken off the keypad are slim. I would find a keypad from a junk yard and replace your old one. If you want to buy a new one they are dicontinued so you are kind of sol there.

Hey, my keypad isn't working either. I let my dad use the car for 2 years while i was in germany, and when I came back, the keypad didn't work, it doesn't even light up, and the light around the keyhole doesn't work on the drivers side door. are these problems linked together? any clues?

Do your interior lights lights up when either you pull up on the door handle or press any button on the keypad? More than likely your keypad has gone bad and needs replaced. It seems that the keypad is the weak link of the system as I have seldom heard of the actual keyless entry module going bad. I found a guy that sold me a keypad out of a 93 sho and it has worked fine since. My buttons wouldnt light up either and everyone was telling me that my module was bad. The keypads are very easily replaced but you will have to find one from a junk yard becuse they have been discontinued. Be careful when you replace it and put all wires back where you found them as i had a problem with this as well. If the wires are not routed correctly you will be taking apart your door every week to get the power door lock working again. thumbs_u

Well, when I lift up on the door handle, the interior lights come on, but the light around the key hole doesn't light up, the keypad doesn't light up or do anything else. If I try pushing buttons on the keypad, nothing happens. No lights, no nothing. Any ideas?

My best guess would be that you need to replace both the keypad and the drivers door keyhole light. I know that the keypads have been discontinued but I dont know about drivers keyhole light. The keypad i very easy to replace and while the door is apart it makes it easy to get to the keyhole light. Replace them and then enjoy keyless entry again. thumbs_u
