Here's the deal. Matt is trying to install 1990 SHO doors on his MT5 wagon (86-87). We are in the process of trying to figure out if it's possible to get the keypad on the driver's door to work on the wagon. What pins or wires do we need to look for/tap into to make this work?

The short question is: Can you install the keypad onto a taurus/sable/SHO that did NOT origionaly have it????????

Of course you can. You will just need to have all the wiring, the keypad, and the RKE module. If you are going this route I would use a 93-95 module and wiring so you can have the key fob remote also. The install is not a matter have "tapping the right pins" though. You will make the install much easier if you just get the drivers door harness and the section of the body harness that goes from the RKE module back up to the door. You should also have a really good wiring diagram.

I think the plugs are already in the car. I know on most 86-91 cars the plugs are there for all options IIRC. I'm not saying 100% for sure, but its worth a shot to look.

With the 1990 SHO driver's door on the 87 MT5 wagon, the power door locks do not work from either front door. Is this because the keyless entry box is not in the circuit?

Basically Matt wants to use all 4 of the 1990 SHO doors on his 87 MT5 wagon. Because the SHO has the keypad, he would like it to work. He dosen't care if it's the 93 and up with the remote key fob.

I have a few parts cars, so if he need a wiring harness, i'll find one.

Thanks jelloslug!!!

The plugs should not be there already in a non keyless car. If it has power door locks it will have a little module in the trunk (or the back area in your case) that has to do with the power door locks but it's not the same connector as the RKE module. Your best be would be to get access to a good donor car and swap over wiring. It's really straight forward: Swap over the door harness, Swap in the RKE harness (parts of it will plug in if the car already has power door locks), then splice in the power connections to the RKE module. There are other bits like the power trunk release and the lighted key holes that you may or may not decide to deal with also.
