Hello all, I just bought a 1994 SHO ATX. My question is I have the key pad numbers on the driver's door, but I do not have any key fobs. Does that mean that my SHO did not come equiped with them? Also this is my 2nd SHO.

You mean it didn't come with keyless remote? The previous owner could've lost it. Look in the trunk if there's KEM with an antenna or RKEM(Remote Keyless entry module). If so, you just need to buy a keyless remote. I believe all 94 SHOs came with RKEM. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, Ill check into that. Is the RKEM located in the trunk? I seen the other module for the door pad entry. And damn 13 people read this and only one response...lol

Yes or only the keypad. The KEM is located on the left side on the back of the back seat.

ive seen on ebay there are books about how to program them.. but i honestly dont know how to really program them. i think that the ford dealer would have to program them with the computer becuse i know thats probably the easiest along with if you wanted the key pad reprogramed i think a ford dealer has to do that too. ive been told it shouldnt be to expenceive but you would have to go to your ford dealer and find out.

Actually it should be in the owners manual.

Transmitter Programming

To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the electronic door lock control processor, perform the following steps:

1. Turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC position and momentarily short the two terminals of the program connector (J4) (a two-pin connector taped to the wire assembly is accessed by removing the left hand luggage trim panel). All doors should lock then unlock. Remove shorting pin.

2. Press any button on transmitters. All doors should lock then unlock, to verify that transmitters have been programmed.

NOTE:
If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same transmitter).

3. Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock then unlock.

4. Check operation.

NOTE:
The electronic door lock control processor erases all previous transmitters from memory when the transmitters are programmed or reprogrammed. The electronic door lock control processor can store up to four transmitters in memory.

IIRC - The code is located on the box itself. You might have to remove the box to read the code. I have one in my spare parts bin that has the 5 digit code on it. The one from my old SHO is in my Stang. The only thing missing on the stang is the key pad.

As far as I know all gen I-II have key less entry on the door from the factory !! Like they all sead the code can be found on the trunk on the KEM box !!

As far as the key les entry with a remote all long as is a Ford factory alarm its preaty simple to program just have to do a search on it.
When my remote on my Expedition that I hade when bad I switch the battery and I hade to redo the programing. Well actually my uincle did it for me its all a series of things that you have to do to the car to get the thing programed.
For example for the Expedition what he did when along this lines I don't remember exacly but I'm preaty close.
He put the key in the ignition, then he turned it with out turning on the car twice, then he locked & unlocked the car with the door open twice, then closed the door, turned the igition again, after all that he removed the key from the ignition and the he pushed "lock" on the remote and it worked. Now I don't remember if that's exacly what he did but I'm sure with a quick search online you can find out exacly what needs to be done to program it.

Just wondering if I were to get a RKEM from a GenII could I hook it up to a GenI harness and have remote keyless? And if so do you know what models have a RKEM that would interchange? Doesn't really matter if I have to hack into the harness but it would be nicer to have something that plugs up, otherwise I might go aftermarket.

And regarding the keypad codes it should be posted in several spots like the KEM, trunk hinge, and maybe another on the ECU/EEC (if they did that on the Taurii and if it is the original ECU). Look for a sticker with 5 digits on it if there are NO stickers you would have to crack open the module and see which pins are connected (search this site) and you can even change the permanent code, but that requires moderate soldering skills.
Things to know after finding/entering the code:
3-4: unlock all doors
5-6: open trunk
7-8 + 9-0: lock doors
1-2 + 5 digits: program personal code

1-2 + 5 program personal code?
Please explain that one ?

If you know the Ford-assigned door code, enter it and the driver door will unlock. within 2 (maybe 5 but lets go with 2) seconds press the 1-2 key and then any combo of 5 digits (say 73146 for example)

There will be no "success" indication. Lock the car (or don't), then try the code you just entered (73146) if it unlocks the driver door you have correctly set the personal code. If it did not work you probably took too long between hitting one of the numbers - I think it gives you 10 seconds per number, but that may vary by model. To change it follow the same process, the new one will replace any prior personal code. To erase the personal code do everything up to pressing the 1-2 key then don't press any numbers for 1 minute.

There are detailed instructions on this in the owners manual for most F/L/M vehicles that had this as an option. It will have better instructions and also model-specific details on where the key code is posted on the car.

ED: Oh and incase it looks confusing, you do not have to enter the code to lock the doors. When exiting the vehicle just press the last two buttons (7-8 + 9-0)
ALL CODES are 5 digits - the Ford one, and any one you try to set.
