2011 Ford Taurus SHO w/ factory security system.

Key was working great till last night. Tried unlocking the doors after work and nothing. Used swipe on door to unlock. FOB is still detected and starts car just can't unlock door or pop trunk. I went to orielly's to test transmitter and it is transmitting fine.I have also checked all the fuses associated with IA and none were blown.

Any suggestions?

What does your other key do? If the one fob works everything else it has me believe your fob is bad.

A new key will tell.

Unfortunately, I only have one key. I have been meaning to get another programmed but that requires a visit to the dealership from what I understand.

Since you have one key yeas a dealer will have to do that.

Once you have 2 keys you canprogran a 3rd yourself.

The dealer could temporarily program a like units fob cor verification.

If the fob batter is low the pic should display a message. This may be year specific. I dunno

No not at all. If it became unprograned it would be completely inoperative. The fact that the Fobs other functions work means that the tire pressure module is receiving a signal and sending it to the remote functions actuator.

The question is is if the fob is bad and not sending a unlock signal or the Remote Function Actuator is not unlocking the doors. I kinda have a bet on the rfa.

Do any lights come on when you unlock the car?

But the fob locks the doors?

If the car starts passively the fob is kinda working.

Key FOB neither locks or unlocks doors, does not pop trunk or trigger panic alarm. None of the buttons do anything to the vehicle.

But vehicle does recognize FOB to start.

As stated above I would start with a new battery for the FOB, that may not fix it but it's the cheapest and easiest fix and you will need a new battery one day anyway. LOL I have the opposite problem sometimes my car unlocks itself for no reason, it only happens occasionally so for now I'm not too worried. Good Luck.

To change the battery easiest quick way to pop the back it to use the metal key in the back and just lightly twist in the opening.

The batteries are an easy cheep try.

Here is why I'm not buying it:

When you press the start stop button the R.F.A. sees a voltage signal. This initiates it to operate the interior passive antennas. These antennas send a signal to the key fob. The key fob then sends a signal to the tire pressure module. The T.P.M. sends a message to R.F.A. The RAG sends a networked message to the Body Control module to power up the com and initiate a start event.

To lock, unlock, open the trunk the key fob sends a message to the T.P.M. then the t.pm. to the R.F.A. The RFA then locks unlocks or opens the trunk.

The panic button kinda gets me. SEE the T.P.M. communicates with the R.F.A over a dedicated circuit or over the network. The alarm perimeter alarm is controlled by the Body Control Module. So if the panic button is not working the t.p.m. does appear to be sends g this message out.

The fact the car starts passively though tells me the fob is sending a message to the T.P.M. and the T.P.M. is talking to the R.F.A.

I'd almost suggest you disconnect the 12 batter. Let it sit for 10 min and try again.

If the battery does completely go dead there is a backup slot in the car. This can be in the glove box or the center console. The top has a Passive Antitheft Transponder chip in it that does not need a batter to talk to the car. The car will activate that chip and start if it is in the right spot. So if you get a message "no key detected" and a no crank, one can try this backup slot.

If you want to try it, remove your battery.

Glad they kept it simple:)
