I just got back from the shop and they installed my summit turbo mufflers with 3" slant tips. When the car was on the lift it looked pretty good, but when the car was on the ground, the mufflers looked like they hung REALLY low. The tips are probably 1/2" down from the rear bumper. I might have to go back and have them raise the tip the 1/2" so the mufflers don't look so low. Now I saw a couple of other SHO owners with these mufflers and they didn't look so low even with straight tips.

Wow, those do hang pretty low. I have a gen 1 and you can see about the bottom third of the muffler when you pull up behind the car.

I'll have to take better pictures tomorrow when the sun is out. The mufflers do hang too low. When you look at it 10 yards away, it looks like I have two oval fart pipes hanging from the SHO. I know the muffler will have to show a little because I do not have tips that bend around the rear bumper, but this is ridiculous. Do you think there is a way to twist the mufflers up so the beefy part of the muffler are hidden? I am a
also considered painting the end of the muffler black or something.

When I installed my catback with Edelbrocks they didn't hang level on each side, so I used a large hose clamp wrapped around the outside of the rubber hanger on the side that was hanging low and tightened it until the two sides were level. You could try that with two clamps, one on each side.

Woa! We have a Kurt Metros sighting! hail Well actually that looks like I can see too much of the muffler itself, and not enough tip. It looks like there isn't much tip there to extend out the back of the car to allow the muffler to be tucked back under the bumper some more. Might just be how the muffler was designed. shrug

Mike, consider rethinking your password thing - set it up for a guest, because you gave out the master password I think. Be careful bub.

Yeah, WAY low man. Perhaps "bent" tips, like on the stockers?

Thanks for the heads up Fred. I changed the password, but I don't know how to set up a guest password. Do you know anyone that offers bent tips for the SHO, or would I have to have some custom bent?

So is there a new login and password? I can't seem to get in.

I went to AutoZone and bought the Ford style replacement exhaust hangers that they have in the HELP section. They helped raise up my mufflers. After 10 or more years the stock rubber hangers do sretch a bit.

Hey Dave,
Sorry about the link. Fred informed me that I was giving out the master password and not a guest one. I'm in the process now in figuring out how to give out a guest password. When you went to Auto Zone to get the exhaust hangers, did it come with the rubber also or just the hangers? Do you have a part number and a price also? Thanks.
