Hey I live in the S.A area and was just saying high. o i would also like to know if anybody has tried to use a 80 series flowmaster muffler on there sho sounds. dont really have that much money to spend but want a exhaust system.

this guy at a local muffler shop game me a price of 240 for 2.5 piping from cat back and 80 series flowmaster muffler and 2 3.5 or 4 inch tips

just wonder if i should take the deal while its still there or should i look at a different way of doing it.

80 series are made to be mounted behind the rear axel due to clearance problems with some cars.

just need some advice
and saying hi to fellow SHOers

[email protected]
if u want me to send you a pick of what the exhaust lay out is.

P.S. I dont want it to sound like rice at all.

Welcome to the board.

I live in SA as well, what shop are you looking into?

What year SHO do you have? ( generation )

If $240 includes all the piping from the cat back, both mufflers, tips and installation I'd say that's not a bad deal. I've done exhaust work to both the six and eight cylinder motors and the six with turbo muffs, hi-flow cats and 2.5" piping didn't sound ricey at all, it growled a little, but not quite like the V8, which sounds like a caged beast with a good set o mufflers and no resonator.

Its a 1994 mtx gen II

Actually i live at Universal city at Randolph air force base(my dad not me)

its one of the muffler shops down 78 right next to the base. I've seen them do some work so i know there ok.

my goal is to get it to sound as much like a v8 as posible and i realize that thats not posible since its a v6 but key words are as much .

DO NOT USE FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS ON YOUR SHO. It will sound like total ass. Like a mix between rice and motorcycle. Plus it has no backpressure so you will lose all your bottom end torque, the engine will not have much power til it hits 4k rpm's. If you want it loud get the Edlebrock mufflers the Sho Shop uses from Summit Racing. Dynomax turbos are cheap and pretty quite. And you can go with just one muffler back there to save $$$. A single 2.5" exhaust is enough.

Ask others on the Forum about Flowmasters. They sound good on Mustangs cause they're V8's.

well first of all i dont want any back presure on my engine because i want to keep good care of my car. + im not going for a loud sound like a ricer just a good sound. flowmasters aren't only made for v8 buddy. and i was going to use 1 muffler anyway. there will be less backpressure with the flowmaster but there will still be some because of the way it will be done.

well, flow's sound like ass on the yamaha's. trust me, i've heard them. and backpressure is essential with these motor's to produce any low end torque (and keep good gas mileage), this isn't a 302. the backpressure won't hurt your motor, it will help it quite a bit. alot of these people have been messing with these car's for some time, and they know what they are talking about.

Flow's sound like a$$ on the Gen 1 & 2. To me, they sound like a tractor. I can't speak for the Gen 3, as I don't own one. Who are you going to trust, the fellow that sells them at the muffler shop or your fellow Texas SHO owners. It's your money either way.

I love the sound of my single Magnaflow. Will be dynoing in a few weeks to see if how the single exhaust does on a SHO.

You do need some back pressure for the engine.

Do a search on the forum and see what everyone says.

Hey I'm in San Antonio also, I have hi flow y-pipes and dynomax on my SHO. I lost alot of low end power but the car just outright screams at higher rpm's...

Flow's sound like ass on SHO's. The gen 3 might sound good with them, but they just don't work on the v6 SHOs.
Gas it knows what he's talking about, as do a few others here. I've learned a great deal from those here, and gotten a lot of help. That's what we're all here for.

Im in san antonio as well and have 2 SHO's. I think all of us san antonio people should meet up here pretty soon somehwere, thatd be fun. bought my white 91 off soemone from ebay, made a deal on the side. Its really loud, to me the exhaust is awseome. BUT, i dont know whats been done to it exhaust wise, but engine wise i do. So, maybe soemtime if everyones down we can meet up and maybe somone can tell me what makes mine so loud, and whats wrong with it as well. It would have to be soemwhere on the Northeast side by James Madison High school since i cat drive it far without the battery light comin on and the car dying on me (battery and alternator are new), plus its not registerd. Anyone?

You guys wanna meet up? Cool.

I might bring the SVTF though. I'm having a blast driving it around.

Anyone going to the SA car show this weekend?

I'm going either tomorrow or Sunday.

I have this weekend off, so anytime around then would be great. Next weekend looks goo too.
