Looks like July 23rd We are hosting a dyno day and sound-off, I'll be cramming to put my TT SHO together... not sure if it'll be running but it'll be available for veiwing anyhow  Should be a fun event, $40 gets you at least 2 runs (more if there's time) and db metering if you want ($5 just for the db meter). There will be a HP guessing contest and highest HP with cash prizes. It'd be great if we could get some NWSHOC members there (hint hint errr Kurt).
Here the poster, forgive my typo

Are you still on for this weekend?

We have two supercharged SHOs, four normally aspirated SHOs and one very rare Honda tentatively scheduled for the trip. How's the TT SHO Probe?

I will give you a call to get more details for the weekend.

Thanks to Lance and JGS Precision for hosting an awesome dyno day. The weather was great. The people were great. A nice variety of cars and trucks.

I am not usually a Honda guy (unless it is a motorcycle), but they had one VERY nice 92 Prelude that makes high 300's in Hp (366 yesterday, but had a different dyno sheet at 380 from earlier). The car is very clean and not ricey. It even has the stock rims. What a sleeper.

Karen's red 95 "Ivan the Terrorbull" put out 349hp and is still needing major tuning work. It sure did get some looks from people who had not seen many SHOs in the past.

Lance's twin turbo 3.2 SHO Probe was running but not dyno ready yet. That is a piece of work. Toolman, if you get out here, you should take a peek at what he did. I think it could fit in a SHO engine bay with only slight modifications (relatively speaking).

We had a total of 4 SHOs make it to the Dyno (Karen's 95, Chris K's White 95, Casey W's Blue 92, and Mark P's red 89) I did not get any pictures, but I know Mark and Casey have some. I will see if they can post some.

Thanks again Lance

More to the story....
Later that night, his turbo snapped in half (turbine wheel seperated from the shaft) The turbo was very hurt when he was doing the runs (out of balance), air temp when waaay up...
We built every thing on that car :) Using my wastegate and bypass valve too.

Also the metallic orange MKIII supra that was there, the guy tried drifting an 3AM after he left my house... and smashed it into a bank
Not the best way to end the night.

That is so sad about the Supra. That was a nice looking car. Our group wasalso playing a bit on your road out to 101 ourselves and two cars almost did a little "custom body work" . That road is a lot of fun. Too bad it is not a closed course.

Sorry to hear about his the Prelude turbo. I know he was disappointed with his results, and he should have been able to do more. I also know he is at the right place to get it fixed

By the way, I compared supercharged dyno curves to others on this forum (yamahaSHO and TWR), and it looks like they both had to go to 8000rpms or so to see the Hp peak out :omg: . I don't know if I am ready for 8k yet.

Thanks again for the fun.

People ask me why I build cars if I don't want to drag race every fool out there...
Well that road is one of the biggest reasons  Been driving every day since I got my permit :) Theres also plenty of other roads like that around here too

Mike, that's just the nature of a centrifical blower. As you spin it faster, you create more boost. Since we can make power at 8k rpm safely, we take it up to 8k. I'm also running stage I cams on a 3.0 where as Terry is running stock 3.0 cams on a 3.2. As long as you have a semi decent tune, you can gradually step up the limiter. I personally have my limiter set at 8,300 rpm.

Holy Cow (I mean Bull) Batman!

I can only imagine what the car would sound like at 8300rpms.

Maybe as time goes on, I will gain comfort in the higher rpms.

Has anyone thought about taking a T trim blower with a smaller pulley (say 18-20psi) on it and setting up the bypass valve to act as a relief valve at say 12psi? Could we make more boost at lower rpms this way and then dump any of the excess boost at the top end?

I think Lupo is doing something like this with an S-trim, however, I've got a 3.5 - 9 PSI spring in mine now turned down to 9 PSI and I still hit full boost. I am also utilizing both ******* on the HKS bypass valve.

:thumb: A smaller pulley + the setup your talking about would be all you would need...
Basically attach a pre-throttlebody signal to the bottom port with a boost controller inline...IIRC I might be missing something its been years since I talked about this setup. When the boost controller is closed the bypass will not have any pressure on the top to keep it closed (because it will be seeing equal pressure on the other side of the diaphram, same as no pressure). Then it'll revert to just the pressure of the spring keeping it closed (IE relief valve). BUT it will still bypass just like normal.

Then you'll have boost sooner under low boost but you can still dump in race gas and go full boost just by twisting the **** or unhooking the BC line (3-way solinoid maybe...). You could even hook-up an electronic BC like the greddy, HKS, etc. and have push button BC like in my SRT4
BTW it (the black SRT4 that was at the show) put down 323WHP with 120 deg intake temps (baaaad intercooler) and pump gas.
