Alright here is the deal. my car has a crummy aftermarket radio in it right now. it dosent work very well so I got a factory JBL headunit with a slave CD player. The car is a 92 SHO which came from the factory with the JBL but some numbskull gave it a cheap aftermarket cd player which decided to crap out. when they changed it over they didnt hack up any wiring just used the factory harness. now when i try to put a factory radio back in there is no sound coming out from the speakers. the radio will turn on, tune into a station but there is absolutley no sound. none of the factory wiring is hacked up, I even tried two different radios with no sucess. but when the crummy cd player is plugged back in the sound comes out. I can't track down the problem. Has anyone had similar problems?

If it has the Subwoofer in the trunk, crawl in there with the stereo on (If I can fit... anyone can) and start wiggling the harnesses. Mine would cut out when I hit a bump. I found the offending wire, got it in a position where it wouldn't move so much and so far no problems.

If you put in a factory tape deck that had a slave cd player attached to it you either need to put the cable that goes from the cd player to the tape deck and the cd player in (the power wire does not have to be attached) or put in a jumper plug in the spot where the cd player cable plugs into the tape deck.

I've tried it with the jumper plug and the slave cd player attached with no luck. if it was a problem with the amps would the aftermarket radio still work fine?

You may have an amp bypass harness installed for the aftermarket radio. Look at the black JBL amp and see if there is somthing like this pluged into the harness:
