Hi,
I finally replaced my front brakes on the MKS. Used OEM rotors and SHO PP pads.

But please look and tell me if it's how it's supposed to be. It almost looks like the inner / outer pads were switched at the factory.

These are the old pads from the car. On the left is the inner pad. On the right it's the outer pad. Is this correct? I've put the new pads the same way, but I don't understand what is the purpose for the little protruding plastic shims if they're installed like that.

If you reverse them I could kinda see how these shims could be useful.. As is - they don't actually touch the caliper or the pistons.
Also notice the little tab on top of the inner pad? my new pads don't have that tab at all.

If you were to put the right-hand pad against the pistons, that protruding piece of the pad backing plate would interfere with the piston. Is that what you're referring to as a "plastic shim" ? I don't think they're plastic, they are part of the metal backing plate.

yes. that's exactly what I meant. They might not be plastic but they do have a plastic feel to them..
So in other words, I installed it correctly?
I just didn't understand what was the puspose of these because they don't actually do anything, so I thought maybe this was not right.

They are there to simply align the shim correctly. If you look at the pad that goes against the pistons, it has basically the same "standouts" that the other pad has, but in the center, where they would interfere with the caliper.

Just wanted to double check :)

Thanks
