That is what that part is (engine dampener). These go on the rear mount though, don't they? (by the firewall) shrug

The reason I ask is cause I'm missing mine on the 92 and I think I got 2 bad mounts(front and rear) not sure if its the bolt(s) or the mounts are torn. Could be the SFBs...getting a rub mark on the intake. Damn cars

Looks pretty close to the engine dampner, but the mounting bracket looks way off. It could be just me though... I remember the mounting bracket being bolted in by 3 bolts.

that does look like an engine trq limiter, but it doesnt look like a SHO limiter.

as stated, the mounting bracket looks incorrect.

Torque limiter (or dampener). Attaches to 89-95 SHO FRONT motor mount. The mounting bracket is correct.

There are three engine roll dampners on the SHO 3.0L engine. The one in the photo is attached to the front motor mount. Another mounts between the passenger side strut tower and the power steering pump mounting bracket. The third mounts between the driver side strut tower and a bracket on the driver side end of the transaxle.

The roll dampners are NOT a substitute for healthy motor mounts. The dampners are designed to dampen the impact from sharp changes in engine torque due to events such as clutch drops, hard shifting or improper rev matching on downshifts with rapid clutch release.

As you can see from the long bracket on the dampner in the photo, this mount is not designed to withstand the great energy from the the engine's torque on a constant basis. That is the job of the much larger and stronger motor mounts. Replacing the hydraulic dampners with solid rods is a recipe for failure as it places the engine's torque through the rather spindly mounting brackets of the roll dampners.

That is the correct role dampener for the front Motor mount. Looks the same as the one in my 91 and both 89s...perhaps the 3-hole mounting bracket is something on the gen IIs?

The front motor mount dampener on my 92 only has 2 mounting brackets.

Where can i get one of those for my front mount for my '89... i thought i needed a motor mount because i had a shiny spot on my intake, but my mechanice said it wan't the mount and it could be the tq limiter, i'm also debating that the shiny shot was from the rubbing of the heat pad in the inside of the hood because the hood is from a Sable.. it was in an accident and the previous owner had one lying around... Motor mount, not the tq limiter, will cause the shiny spot. Think of the tq limiter as an assistive device. With a blown mount, you'll over-stress the limiter, and blow that out as well.

BTW, IIRC, the tq limiters are discontinued too, so you'd have to find a used one (which is why I bought that new one).
