Is there a write up for installing aftermarket gauges anywhere?

Ive searched and searched this and the other sites because i recalled seeing a long time ago a link where there was a write up to help in installing specifically a water and oil gauge but for the life of me i cant find it. Am i imagining this or am i just not looking in the right place? My scenerio is ive got 3 electric water/volt/oil gauges in the mail and im trying to figure out what i need to complete the install. Id like to get it all in prior to my rodbearing swap so i can see out of curiousity what its currently running and if it will fluctuate any. I know where to go for the oil gauge but as far as what to get at the hardware store and such thats where i get lost. As for water i havent got a clue what to use for the reading for it. I searched but didnt have much luck. I guess i just like to over analyze things before i get them but for you previous gauge installers if you can either point me to this link i think im thinking of :nut: or help guide me through the installation id greatly appreciate it. Ive never had to install these kind of gauges before so im new at it. For reference i ordered sunpro electric's that come with the sending unit if that matters. Anyhow thanks a ton everyone! Bandit will thank you

Adam your my hero :hail: Thats the one i was thinking of. Now i guess all i need to know is where the sending unit for the water gauge is or i guess i should ask how everyone else has theirs done and if they us the factory one or not?

Adam, yours has a trans temp and air/fuel gauge right? Im sure i can figure it out im just curious as to what everyone else has done i guess to do it the best way possible.

Of the two available factory senders, I would utilize the coolant port supplied for the factory dash gauge sender. Using the port where the ECT sensor threads into the block almost always requires a tee of some sort, a modification that can adversely affect coolant temperature readings back to the EEC due to the non-laminar flow of coolant up into the tee. Utilizing the dash sensor gauge (either by teeing into the port itself or by replacing the factory sender with your aftermarket gauge sender) is, IMO, a much better way to go.

Yep. At present, I have one Nordskog 2 1/16" Street Digital tranny temp gauge sitting low in the A-pillar pod and a PLX M-300 series wideband controller installed in the cassette cubby of my Gen 2 console. After the holidays, the Nordskog tranny temp guage will be joined by two of it's brothers - a 0-100psi boost gauge and a 0-100psi oil pressure gauge. ;)

Awesome. I gotta ask ya one for question. Where is the factory dash gauge sender located? Id just assume do that with the T-fitting since id be doing the same for the oil gauge.

The factory dash guage sender is a single-wire sensor that is located just above the thermostat housing. Unfortunately, the on-line Chilton's at AutoZone.com doesn't have a diagram of the sender's location and I don't have the factory service CD's loaded here on my laptop. Hopefully someone with a picture or diagram will drop in here and post it for us.

Thanks for the complements, K-man. After over two years of planning and saving for the various stages of the blower project, I am hopeful that the project will come to full fruition by the time the next presedential election rolls around ... ;)
