Is the subframe recall still good?

Hello

I am a new member and just bought my first SHO. 1995 mtx. Brought it home and just took it to the garage for inspection and my front subframe is rusted out. I know there was a recall on this. Is it still in place? I presume not after 24 years but you never know.

The car will not pass inspection in Pennsylvania. Seller never disclosed this problem to me. I has a Virginia inspection that expires 8-19.

DO I have any recourse with ford? or the seller? or is it a reasonable fix?

Not sure if recalls ever expire, but they might.

What exactly is rusted? The subframe itself, or the mounting plate/bolts, or ...?

The subframe recall was for the subframe bolts. The recall bolt kits are long obsolete but you might be able to get a set here on the forum if you post a WTB. You have no recourse with Ford over a rusted subframe. You will need to find a good replacement at a junk yard.

My passenger side rear sub frame is rusted. Frame is rusted off of the mounting bolt. I will try and get some pictures over the weekend.

Is there a patch panel for this?

Or do I need a whole new sub frame? Any idea of time/cost to replace the subframe. It is beyond my capabilities.

One surefire way to find out would either call the stealership with your vin, or just take the car up there. I doubt it is though. They're starting to turn down frame replacements on 00-06 1st gen tundras on the frame recall due to how long it's been. Fortunately mine is ok. Gotta love the desert.

Not really. The easiest thing to do is swap it out. Easy is a relative term but this is eaten away and toast.

Damn. That's definitely not ok. You need a new subframe asap.

Can someone help me in locating a good used subframe for my car? It is a 1995 with a manual transmission.

Also can someone recommend someone to do it. I am located in the Lehigh Valley PA. I would prefer someone local to me but I am willing to take the car an hour or two in any direction. Harrisburg, Philly, Scranton or Central Jersey.

If I read what mrecoolgar posted above, he is saying he has subframes and he is an hour and half from you. Start a conversation with him and ask if he can do the work for you as well

There are others, AREA 91 on the forum in PA that may be able to do the work for you as well
