My starter had recently went on the SHO , i took the stater of and i saw OIL . Lots of oil in the starter . I rigged it up to work however ( filed down armture till low spots from the brushes were gone streched the springs that push out the brushes and of course cleaned) .

that oil is comming out of my plug wells and leakin down onto the starter . Now i have heard them called plug well seals & valve stem seals or maybe it nethier .

I'm going to 60k my SHO as soon as my budget permits , but the oil situation has to go i talked to chris from bittersweetSHO.com and he said it takes a saturday afternoon to do , but i can't remember what the name of the seals were .

please help on some info thanks

That oil would have gotten there from the filter sitting just above it. You have to take certian steps to keep it from running all over the starter when changing the oil filter. Place a plastic bag over it or make up something out of a plastic jug. Then remove the filter.

EDIT: i agree on the oil filter part he just said above, but if your concerned your valve cover seals and or plug well seals are leaking then read what i wrote below. Also pull a plug wire to see if theres any oil down inside there or not, this reveals if they are bad or not.

Are you sure that its not your valve cover seal thats leaking? The plug well seal is a circle that goes around the spark plug well and if this is leaking to the point where your talking about then your plugs are fully submerged with oil and the whole backside of your motor would be soaked. From my perspective( which might be completely wrong) Theres too much resistance to cause your plug well seals to leak to that degree. Even when mine was being driven without plug well seals it didnt leave the plug well. Id be willing to bet your valve cover gasket is bad. If you go to Autozone and request valve cover gaskets and seals then you will get to rectangular gaskets for the valve covers and then 6 circle seals for each plug well. If you go to autozone and tell them what you need then they should be able to get it for you by the end of the week and it would be around 75 bucks

Changing them isnt difficult if your careful and take your time. You have to remove the upper intake with all the snakes to access the valve covers. Taking the manifold off is the easy part, its getting all the hoses and connections off and back on during re-assembly that takes some time to do. I did it on mine in an evening and it was the first time i had ever dug into it. If you have any questions or need some advice on it feel free to pm me if you like. Its all fresh on my mind as i did it about a month or so ago. Goodluck :thumb:

Theres a possibility the filter is comming loose or that the gasket from the old filter stuck to the car so that you have to gaskets ontop of eachother, that can impose a leak. If your wells are full of oil then order the kit from autozone and replace them, your sho will love you for it. If you need any help tearing it apart pm me and ill try my best to give you a step by step list of what to do. If your plug well seals are toast then im betting your valve cover gaskets are too.
